The reporting we could verify confirms that Raegan Revord played Missy Cooper and that Lance Barber played George Cooper Sr. on Young Sheldon. It also confirms that George’s death and funeral were fictional events in the show’s final season. It does not confirm that Revord posted tribute images about George, and it does not establish the phrase “The Loss Of My Life” as her wording. The tribute post that does appear in 2024 coverage was made by Iain Armitage, who played Sheldon, and it carried a different caption.
Who played whom
Two characters and two actors are easy to blur together in a headline like this one, so it helps to keep them apart.

- Missy Cooper is played by Raegan Revord. Missy is Sheldon’s twin sister and a recurring presence across the series.
- George Cooper Sr. is the family’s father, played by Lance Barber. George is a fictional character, and Barber is a living actor who worked alongside the younger cast.
- Sheldon Cooper is played by Iain Armitage, the actor behind the separate tribute post described below.
Any statement about George’s death belongs to the character. It is not a report about Barber’s life, and nothing in the reporting we reviewed suggests that the actor has died.
What the funeral storyline shows
TVLine covered the episode that depicts George’s funeral. Co-showrunner Steve Holland described the approach to the scene in those interviews. The reporting quotes him as saying: “We also wanted to make sure that we gave this moment its actual, proper weight.”

In the same coverage, Revord says the tears she shed during the funeral scene were real. She is quoted as saying: “Those tears are real tears.” TVLine also reports that she asked director Michael Judd for another take. That detail describes her emotional involvement in the filming, not a social media post.
The tribute post that is documented
A Yahoo Entertainment report describes a post by Iain Armitage in which he paired a still of Sheldon and George with a behind-the-scenes selfie of Armitage and Barber. The caption quoted in that report reads: “Love you, George! Love you, Lance!!!”

That is the closest documented match to the headline’s subject. It is still a different author, a different image pairing, and different wording from what the headline attributes to Revord.
How the headline’s claims compare with the reporting
The table below separates what the headline implies from what the located reporting actually states.
| Element | Headline claim | Located reporting (2024) |
|---|---|---|
| Author | Young Sheldon’s Missy actor | Revord played Missy, but no post by her about George was located. The documented post is by Armitage. |
| Images | Tribute images about George | Not verified for Revord. For Armitage: one still of Sheldon and George, and one behind-the-scenes selfie of Armitage and Barber. |
| Caption | “The Loss Of My Life” | Not verified as a quote from Revord or anyone else. Armitage’s documented caption is “Love you, George! Love you, Lance!!!” |
| Date of post | Not stated in the headline | Not stated in the located reporting |
| Subject | George’s death in the show | Fictional character; funeral depicted in the final-season storyline |
How to check a tribute post yourself
If you see a headline like this one, the claim can be tested against the original post in a few steps.
- Open the account that is said to have posted it and confirm it is the actor’s verified profile on the platform in question.
- Find the post itself rather than a screenshot or a secondhand description, and note its date.
- Compare the caption word for word with the quoted phrase. A paraphrase or a headline’s wording is not the actor’s caption.
- Check whether the reporting you are reading links to the original post or quotes it directly. If it does not, treat the description as unconfirmed.
Until the original post is located and checked, the accurate description is that Revord’s reported tribute is unverified, and the documented tribute is Armitage’s post for Barber.

Attributing a caption to the wrong castmate changes the story. The Armitage post is a public tribute between two cast members who worked together for years, and the caption is affectionate and addressed to both the character and the actor. Presenting it as a post from another castmate, or presenting an unverified phrase as a quotation, would give readers a false account of what was said.
For readers who want to follow the show’s ending and the cast’s reactions, the verified reporting from 2024 is the reliable starting point.
