Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 has six episodes, Episodes 9–14, and returns most of the Dutton and ranch ensemble, including Beth, Jamie, Kayce, Rip, Monica, and Rainwater. Kevin Costner does not return as John Dutton. Part 2 aired from November 10 to December 15, 2024, then began streaming on Peacock on March 16, 2025.

The cast guide below separates returning principal characters, the bunkhouse and ranch ensemble, Season 5 additions, and political and corporate figures. It also lists all six episodes and explains the documented DVD and streaming options without treating unverified retailer availability as fact.

Key takeaways

  • Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 contains six episodes: Episodes 9 through 14, including the series’ Part 2 finale, “Life Is a Promise.”
  • Kevin Costner does not return as John Dutton in Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2; the principal Dutton conflict instead follows Beth, Jamie, Kayce, Rip, Monica, Tate, and the future of the ranch.
  • The returning Yellowstone bunkhouse group includes Lloyd, Colby, Ryan, Walker, Teeter, and Jimmy, with Emily continuing Jimmy’s Four Sixes-connected storyline.
  • Sarah Atwood, Clara Brewer, Rowdy, and Abby are notable Season 5 characters, although the available cast reporting does not establish that all four are new arrivals specifically in Part 2.
  • Part 2 originally aired on Paramount Network from November 10 through December 15, 2024, and all six episodes began streaming on Peacock on March 16, 2025.

Who is in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2?

Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 brings back most of the Dutton family and Yellowstone ranch ensemble, including Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton, Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, Wes Bentley as Jamie Dutton, Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler, Kelsey Asbille as Monica Dutton, and Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater. Kevin Costner is the major exception: Costner does not return as John Dutton in the six new episodes.

The second half of Season 5 is built around the Dutton family’s internal power struggle, the ranch’s uncertain future, the continuing land and political conflict involving Thomas Rainwater, and the loyalties binding Beth, Rip, Kayce, Jamie, and the ranch hands. TV Guide’s Season 5, Part 2 cast reporting identifies the principal returning performers and the notable Season 5 additions covered below.

Is Kevin Costner in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2?

Kevin Costner is not in Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 as John Dutton. Viewers should not treat pre-release reports about a possible cameo or return as part of the final cast: the released Part 2 episodes do not bring Costner back as the Montana governor and Dutton patriarch.

Costner publicly explained the decision in a statement reported by TV Guide: “I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5B or into the future.” That statement is the clearest basis for the final cast distinction, and Costner should not be listed as a returning Part 2 performer. TV Guide’s report on Costner and Season 5B provides the relevant public statement and release context.

What happens to the Dutton family’s cast and character group?

The Dutton family remains the dramatic center of Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, but the family members do not occupy the same side of the conflict.

  • Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, continues as the family’s most strategically aggressive defender. Her partnership with Rip and rivalry with Jamie define two of the story’s key personal alignments.
  • Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley, remains Beth’s principal family adversary. Jamie is John Dutton’s adopted son, and his political choices continue to collide with Beth’s loyalty to the ranch.
  • Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, remains caught between his Dutton family obligations and his responsibilities to Monica and Tate.
  • Monica Dutton, played by Kelsey Asbille, represents the family’s domestic and generational stakes through her relationship with Kayce and her role as Tate’s mother.
  • Tate Dutton, played by Brecken Merrill, is the younger generation of the Dutton line and the son whose future gives the family conflict long-term consequences.
  • Rip Wheeler, played by Cole Hauser, is both Yellowstone’s foreman and Beth’s husband. Rip’s loyalty is tied to Beth, the ranch, and the ranch workers who depend on him.
  • Carter, played by Finn Little, is a young ranch hand connected to Beth, Rip, and the ranch household.
Story relationship Characters What the relationship represents
Family power struggle Beth and Jamie A conflict between Beth’s defense of the Dutton interest and Jamie’s political and personal choices
Ranch partnership Beth and Rip A marriage joined to Yellowstone’s survival and the protection of its workers
Household and next generation Kayce, Monica, and Tate The tension between Dutton family loyalty, domestic security, and Tate’s future
Land and political conflict Thomas Rainwater and the Duttons Competing interests around land, development, sovereignty, and the ranch’s future

Who are the Yellowstone bunkhouse characters in Part 2?

The Yellowstone bunkhouse and ranch ensemble returns around the main Dutton story. The group supplies the day-to-day ranch perspective, personal loyalties, and subplots that make the Yellowstone operation feel larger than the Dutton family alone.

Ryan Bingham Walker A musician and ranch hand associated with the bunkhouse

Jefferson White Jimmy Hurdstrom A ranch character whose story connects Yellowstone with the Four Sixes ranch
Kathryn Kelly Emily Jimmy’s fiancée; her story remains linked to Jimmy and the Four Sixes

Jimmy’s presence is especially useful for understanding the wider ranch network: his storyline connects the Yellowstone setting to the Four Sixes ranch, while Emily, played by Kathryn Kelly, remains his fiancée. TV Guide also notes that Kelly was promoted to series regular for Season 5 alongside White.

Who plays Sarah Atwood, Clara Brewer, Rowdy, and Abby?

The notable Season 5 additions and newly foregrounded characters include Sarah Atwood, Clara Brewer, Rowdy, and Abby. These should be described as Season 5 characters rather than automatically labeled as new Part 2 arrivals, because the available reporting does not establish that every one of them first appears in the second half.

Actor Character Character function Season 5 status
Dawn Olivieri Sarah Atwood A corporate strategist who attaches herself to Jamie and represents a new corporate threat around the Dutton political struggle Notable Season 5 character
Lilli Kai Clara Brewer John Dutton’s new assistant during his governorship Notable Season 5 character
Kai Caster Rowdy A young cowboy appearing in Season 5-era ranch material Notable Season 5 character
Lainey Wilson Abby A musician whose presence adds a performance and romance thread to the ranch ensemble Notable Season 5 character

Sarah Atwood is played by Dawn Olivieri, Clara Brewer is played by Lilli Kai, Rowdy is played by Kai Caster, and Abby is played by Lainey Wilson. Sarah’s corporate alignment is particularly important because she adds pressure from outside the Dutton family’s established political and ranch relationships.

Which political and business figures return in Yellowstone 5B?

Yellowstone 5B also returns to the political, reservation, and corporate figures who make the ranch conflict larger than a family dispute.

  • Gil Birmingham returns as Thomas Rainwater, the chairman whose political and land-use position remains a counterweight to the Duttons.

The major alignment map is therefore broader than “Duttons versus one villain”: the returning cast includes Dutton family members, ranch loyalists, reservation representatives, corporate opponents, and political figures with overlapping interests. The available Season 5 cast reporting supports these returning-character and promotion details.

For readers who prefer ownership, a public catalog documents a three-disc Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 DVD edition with an approximately 360-minute runtime and a 2025 publication record. The catalog record confirms the physical-media edition, but it does not establish a particular retailer, seller, price, or current inventory. The Lake County Library System catalog record is the appropriate source for those edition details.

Is there a Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 DVD?

Yes, a three-disc Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 DVD edition is documented in a public library catalog. The catalog describes approximately 360 minutes of content and records the edition as published in 2025. That evidence supports searching for a “Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 DVD” or “Yellowstone 5B DVD,” but it does not support claiming a specific Amazon listing, price, seller, region, or stock status without a live retailer check.

A DVD is the more practical option for viewers who want a physical copy rather than streaming access. A streaming service is the simpler option for immediate viewing where the episodes are available. The catalog record should be treated as edition evidence, not as a purchase link or guarantee of availability.

Is this a complete Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 cast list?

This is a guide to the principal and materially relevant recurring cast, not an exhaustive credit ledger for every minor guest performer. The guide covers the Dutton family, ranch and bunkhouse ensemble, political and business figures, and notable Season 5 characters identified by the available reporting. Readers who need every performer in every episode should consult the official episode credits or a verified credit database.

The most important cast distinction is straightforward: most of the ensemble returns, but Kevin Costner does not return as John Dutton. The six-episode Part 2 story shifts the center of attention to the surviving Dutton relationships, the ranch workforce, and the competing political, corporate, and reservation interests surrounding Yellowstone.
