It is Yakuza Powered by Nihon Touitsu, a separate, three-episode live-action adaptation that SEGA announced for a same-day release on Prime Video in Japan on February 10, 2026.
What is the new Yakuza show?
Yakuza Powered by Nihon Touitsu is a live-action collaboration between SEGA’s Like a Dragon franchise and the Japanese crime-drama franchise Nihon Touitsu. SEGA describes it as an adaptation of the first Like a Dragon game, made with Nihon Touitsu cast and staff and fully supervised by RGG Studio. The official portal characterizes the adaptation as largely faithful to the original game. SEGA’s official series portal

The announced cast includes Yasufumi Motomiya as Kazuma Kiryu, Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi as Goro Majima, Kazunari Nakatani as Akira Nishikiyama, and Kenji Matsuda as Masaru Date. Motomiya is also identified by SEGA as a star and general producer of Nihon Touitsu. SEGA’s announcement
When and where was it released?
SEGA announced that all three episodes would be released together on Prime Video in Japan on February 10, 2026. The announcement does not establish a release date, streaming service, or subtitle options for other countries. SEGA’s portal specifically notes that release dates and platforms can vary by region, so the Japanese Prime Video date should not be treated as a worldwide availability claim. - A LEGEND IS REBORN AND A NEW LEGACY BEGINS: Two men will walk different paths that converge to shake the very foundations of fate.
- Yakuza Kiwami 3: Continue the story of ex-yakuza Kazuma Kiryu as he fights to protect those he loves in an extreme remake of Yakuza 3 that evolves every aspect of the beloved game.
- Dark Ties: Experience the brand-new tale of Yoshitaka Mine from Yakuza 3 in an included separate game.
How is it connected to the game?
The show’s story leads into Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, which SEGA had scheduled to release on February 12, 2026—two days after the announced Japanese streaming date. That makes the drama a game-linked adaptation and a promotional bridge to the game, not a continuation of Amazon’s television story. SEGA’s announcement SEGA’s official series portal
At the time of SEGA’s announcement, the game was listed for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Those are the announced platforms; the announcement does not establish current stock or physical-edition availability at any particular retailer. SEGA’s announcement

How does it relate to Amazon’s Like a Dragon: Yakuza?
Amazon’s Like a Dragon: Yakuza adaptation premiered in October 2024. GamesRadar described Yakuza Powered by Nihon Touitsu as arriving roughly 18 months later. That interval explains the “less than two years” timing, but it does not mean Amazon’s series has been renewed or that the new show is its next season. GamesRadar’s report

Is this a new ongoing series?
SEGA announced a three-episode collaboration released together. The cited announcements do not establish that it was commissioned as a continuing series, so it is more accurate to call it a three-episode live-action project than a new season or an ongoing show. SEGA also describes Nihon Touitsu as a franchise with more than 90 installments; that figure refers to the broader crime-drama franchise, not the number of episodes in this Yakuza adaptation. - The PS2-era brawling gameplay is refined for the current gen with Kazuma Kiryu fighting his way through the ranks of Yakuza, only to wind up protecting a young girl whose aunt (and who happens to be Kiryu's childhood sweetheart) is missing...along with 10 billion yen.
- Newcomers or those whose Yakuza experience started with Yakuza 0 will have familiar, exacting controls, top-notch SEGA localization, and a solid starting point for entering the Yakuza franchise fresh.
- Completely new to Kiwami is the "Majima Everywhere" system, where the series' deranged, one-eyed maniac will constantly surprise and challenge Kiryu to combat when he least expects it.
- Kiwami is rebuilt from the ground up with all new HD assets, exclusive Japanese voice audio re-recorded by the series cast, and more; optimized for the PlayStation 4 and running in 1080p/60fps.
