For a music-focused YouTube stream in XSplit Broadcaster, set the selected YouTube output’s audio encoding, route only the intended music sources into the stream, and check the YouTube preview before publishing. “No camera” is not the same as “no video signal”: the available documentation explains audio controls and routing, but does not establish that YouTube accepts a live ingest with no video. If you want a music stream without camera footage, use a suitable visual scene rather than assuming an audio-only signal will work.
Set up the YouTube Live output in XSplit
- Confirm YouTube Live is enabled. Check YouTube Studio for the channel’s current eligibility and enablement steps. XSplit’s YouTube Live guide, updated in 2025, describes channel verification and no live restriction in the preceding 90 days as prerequisites, and says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours. Treat those details as dated guidance and confirm the current Studio flow: XSplit’s YouTube Live guide.
- Select or configure the YouTube output. In XSplit Broadcaster, open the Broadcast menu and choose the YouTube Live output. Follow its authorization and broadcast details flow to enter the title, description, category, privacy, and latency options appropriate to the channel.
- Open the output properties and inspect Audio Encoding. XSplit’s output properties include controls for audio codec, bitrate, and format. Use only the choices actually shown for your selected output; service restrictions can limit what is available. See XSplit’s Output Plugin Properties documentation, updated 2026-06-25.
Choose audio settings without guessing a bitrate
Set the codec, audio bitrate, and format from the options exposed by the YouTube output. The reviewed documentation does not establish one universal YouTube audio bitrate for this specific workflow, so do not copy a number from an unrelated video preset or assume every output offers the same choices. Check YouTube’s current recommendation for the exact streaming mode you are using, then compare it with the values XSplit actually permits.
Keep audio bitrate distinct from video bitrate. XSplit’s general output guidance says to follow the platform’s recommended bitrate and account for resolution, frame rate, and available upload speed. For x264, it notes that most streaming platforms require CBR (constant bitrate). That advice concerns the output’s broader encoding configuration; it does not set a universal audio bitrate. Refer to XSplit’s output settings guidance and match the settings to the selected YouTube output.
Route music in and unwanted computer audio out
Check each relevant source’s audio routing rather than assuming the music is the only sound being sent. XSplit’s documented routing flow says sources default to System Sound; setting a source’s Audio Output to Stream Only routes that source directly to the recording or stream. The setting is useful when a source should reach the broadcast without being routed through system sound, but it does not itself identify or filter the music for you.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open the source’s audio output controls in Broadcaster.
- Choose Stream Only for a source that should go directly to the stream.
- Review the Audio Mixer and confirm the intended music and any deliberately included audio are present, while unrelated desktop sounds are not.
XSplit Support describes the behavior this way: “By setting a source’s audio output to Stream Only, their sound will be routed directly to the recording or stream.” See Multitracking Your Audio (updated 2022-11-08).
Account for XSplit version differences
The exact Audio Mixer and pre-stream dialogs depend on the installed Broadcaster version. XSplit’s May 2026 release notes identify Broadcaster 4.6.2605.2109 and say Presentation Sources became the default Audio Mode; Default Speaker and Default Microphones are added by default to the Audio Mixer. The notes also report updated YouTube Live pre-stream dialogs. If your screen differs, use the controls and labels in your installed version rather than expecting an older walkthrough to match exactly: XSplit Broadcaster 4.6 release notes.

Check the stream before publishing
- When practical, start with a private or unlisted broadcast and inspect the YouTube preview and sound.
- Confirm that the music plays at the intended level and that no unrelated system sounds are audible.
- Check that the visual scene appears as intended. If the channel is not showing a camera, use an appropriate static or low-motion visual if it suits the presentation.
- Publish according to the channel’s intended privacy plan only after checking the preview. This is a prudent workflow, not a claimed YouTube requirement.
What “audio-only” can mean on YouTube
If by audio-only you mean a music broadcast with no camera footage, the steps above address its audio encoding and routing. A YouTube live stream may still need a visual program; the cited XSplit materials do not settle whether YouTube currently accepts an ingest that has no video signal at all. Do not treat an audio setting or a successful local audio mix as proof that a no-video ingest is supported.
Common problems and fixes
- The music is missing from the preview: check the source’s audio output routing and the mixer, then verify that the selected YouTube output has the intended audio encoding options.
- Desktop sounds are audible: inspect the routing of each source and remove or reroute sources that should not reach the stream. System Sound may include more than the music you meant to broadcast.
- Your desired codec, bitrate, or format is unavailable: XSplit says available audio choices may depend on the selected service. Confirm that the correct YouTube output is selected and use its available values rather than assuming another output’s controls apply.
- YouTube Live is not available for the channel: check the current YouTube Studio eligibility and enablement flow. XSplit’s 2025 guide notes that first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, but current channel status and platform guidance should govern.
- The stream has no picture: the reviewed sources do not confirm that YouTube accepts a no-video ingest. Add a suitable visual scene and check the YouTube preview instead of relying on an audio-only signal.
