DeMayo later made a separate allegation about the removal of his Season 2 credits, linking it to a Pride Month fan-art post. The two accounts concern different events; the public record cited here does not resolve the underlying allegations.
What Marvel said about DeMayo’s departure
In an August 16, 2024 report, the Los Angeles Times quoted a Marvel spokesperson saying DeMayo had been terminated in March, after an internal investigation. The spokesperson added: “Given the egregious nature of the findings, we severed ties with him immediately and he has no further affiliation with Marvel.” Los Angeles Times

Marvel’s statement described the findings as egregious but did not say what they were, what evidence the investigation considered, or how it reached its conclusions. It is therefore not accurate to present a specific allegation as Marvel’s publicly stated reason.
What DeMayo said about his Season 2 credits
The same Los Angeles Times report said DeMayo alleged Marvel notified him in June that his Season 2 credits would be removed because he had shared fan art for Pride Month. That is DeMayo’s account of a later credit-related dispute—not Marvel’s stated explanation for terminating him in March. Los Angeles Times

The report also relayed an allegation from a source familiar with the termination that the investigation involved alleged sexual misconduct. That information is attributed reporting; Marvel’s quoted statement did not identify the subject of the findings, and the report does not establish the allegation as a confirmed finding.
How the events fit together
| Event | What the public record says | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| March 2024 termination | Marvel said DeMayo was terminated after an internal investigation and cited the “egregious nature” of its findings. | The specific findings or details of the investigation. |
| June 2024 credit notice | DeMayo alleged he was told his Season 2 credits would be removed because of a Pride Month fan-art post. | Independent confirmation of his explanation or a complete account of the credit decision. |
Because the statements address different matters and come from different parties, they should not be collapsed into the claim that Marvel fired DeMayo over a Pride post. The publicly available accounts do not provide a complete record of the private investigation or the parties’ full explanations.
