Who won Gunther vs. LA Knight, and who will face John Cena?
Gunther defeated LA Knight in the tournament final and became John Cena’s final opponent at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The tournament victory determined who would face Cena; the match result itself was Gunther’s win over Knight.
Knight countered a powerbomb and landed an elbow drop from the top rope after Gunther kicked out of a Burning Hammer. Later, a German suplex appeared to injure Knight’s neck, according to WWE’s recap. Knight survived two top-rope splashes and another powerbomb, then hit The BFT. Gunther escaped the pin by getting a foot to the bottom rope. He ultimately trapped Knight in a Sleeper Hold, transitioned to a modified STF, and won by submission.
