Contemporary coverage described the reaction as a break from Bayley’s heel character, though the reports differ on the chant’s exact wording and do not establish what Bayley intended.
What happened when the crowd chanted for Bayley?
During the match, fans sang a Bayley song-chant. An eWrestling live report rendered it as “I wanna know…” and said Bayley smiled and acknowledged the audience. A separate live review from Pro Wrestling Dot Net also described fans singing, but called it the “Hey, Bailey” song. The accounts confirm the crowd interaction, not a settled, complete lyric; neither provides a verified transcript.
Why was it described as Bayley breaking character?
The description refers to the contrast between Bayley’s visible, positive acknowledgment of the crowd and her heel persona. The eWrestling report characterized the moment as something she could not do during her heel days. That is the report’s interpretation of what viewers saw: the consulted coverage does not include Bayley explaining her intent.
What was at stake in the Bayley–Piper Niven match?
WWE’s May 31, 2024 preview billed Bayley as defending the Women’s Championship against Scotland’s Piper Niven in Glasgow. It noted that Bayley had won the title at WrestleMania XL and that Niven had been named the No. 1 Contender.
