There is no confirmed Big Daddy sequel in the sources reviewed. When asked about one in 2019, Adam Sandler joked, “I won’t do that to him. He’s doing fine,” referring to Cole Sprouse, who played his onscreen son. It was a quip—not a definitive refusal or a current statement of intent.
What Adam Sandler said about a sequel
At the Uncut Gems premiere, Sandler reunited with Cole Sprouse and was asked whether that meant he would be open to a Big Daddy sequel. In its December 13, 2019 report, Entertainment Tonight quoted his reply: “I won’t do that to him. He’s doing fine.” The joke was about Sprouse; it should not be read as Sandler announcing a permanent no.

Is there going to be a Big Daddy 2?
No official sequel announcement is established in the available sources, and they do not document a newer comment from Sandler about plans for the film. That supports saying a sequel has not been confirmed—not that one is definitely being considered or has been ruled out.
How other Sandler sequels fit in
Netflix Tudum reported on August 6, 2026, that Grown Ups 3 had started filming in New Jersey and described Happy Gilmore 2 as a sequel that debuted in July 2025. Those projects show Sandler has participated in other sequels, but they are not evidence that Big Daddy is next. The report is available at Netflix Tudum.

#1 Best Overall
- Thirty-two-year-old Sonny Koufax (Adam Sandler) has spent his whole life avoiding responsibility. But when his girlfriend dumps him for an older man, he's got to find a way to prove he's ready to grow up. In a desperate last-ditch effort, Sonny adopts five-year-old Julian (Cole Sprouse, Dylan Sprouse) to impress her. She's not impressed... and he can't return the kid. Uh-oh for Sonny!
What a sequel might revisit
Sony describes the 1999 comedy as the story of 32-year-old Sonny Koufax, played by Sandler, who adopts five-year-old Julian to prove he is ready to grow up. Cole and Dylan Sprouse played Julian. An adult reunion between Sonny and Julian is an easy premise to imagine, but no sequel plot has been reported. Sony’s film page lists the original as rated PG-13 and available on Digital, Blu-ray, and DVD.
