How the feedback works
Wordle gives you six attempts to find a five-letter word. After each guess, a tile turns green when the letter is correct and in the right position, yellow when the letter appears in the answer but in a different position, and gray when the letter does not appear in the answer at all. A third-party description of the game from Technobezz gives these rules; it is not an official New York Times rules document, so treat it as a general guide to the mechanics.
Hints, from least to most revealing
- Meaning: The answer is an adjective that describes harsh behavior.
- Synonyms: It is the opposite of kind or gentle. Close synonyms include “brutal” and “callous,” which is the clue Parade used for this puzzle.
- Structure: The word has two vowels and no repeated letters. WordFinder also describes it as a one-syllable word.
- Letter positions: The word begins with C and ends with L, and its two vowels are U and E.
The answer
CRUEL
Parade, WordFinder and Capitalize My Title each give CRUEL as the answer for this puzzle. The letters are C, R, U, E, L, with the vowels in the middle two positions after the opening consonant. Capitalize My Title also reports that CRUEL had been used once before, in Wordle #1247.
