How Wordle’s clues work
You have six attempts to guess a five-letter word. After each guess, the tile colors show how close you are:
- Green: the letter is in the answer and in the correct position.
- Yellow: the letter is in the answer, but in a different position.
- Gray: the letter is not in the answer.
Use that feedback to narrow down the remaining letters and their possible positions. A practical opening approach is to choose a word with distinct vowels and consonants, then use a second guess to test letters your first guess did not cover. This is general advice, not a guaranteed way to solve the puzzle.
Why the year matters
The puzzle number identifies this as the April 12, 2025 game. April 12, 2026 was a different Wordle puzzle: #1758, whose answer was ALLEY.
