Wordle #1302, the puzzle for Saturday, January 11, 2025, had the answer DINGY. This is a historical puzzle, not the current day’s word, so use this page to check an old grid or to work through that specific puzzle.
Hints for Wordle #1302, from least to most revealing
Each clue below gives a little more away than the one before it. Stop at the first one that unlocks the word for you.
- Letter count: the answer has one vowel and no repeated letters.
- First letter: it starts with a consonant.
- Meaning: think of something gloomy, drab, dirty, or worn.
- Answer: DINGY.
What the answer means
DINGY is an adjective for a place or thing that is dark, drab, and unattractive, usually because it is dirty or uncared for. A dingy room has dim light and grimy walls; a dingy coat has faded fabric and stains. The word describes a dull, neglected look rather than real danger or sadness, which is why the clue writers point toward dirt and wear.
#1 Best Overall
Parade describes the word as an adjective for an area that is gloomy or drab, and as meaning dark, unattractive, or dirty. PC Gamer’s related clue points to something dirty, drab, worn, and uncared for. Both are published hints from outlets covering the game, not clues tested by independent solvers.
Confirming the date and number

A general opening strategy
PC Gamer’s general advice for any Wordle is to open with a word that mixes unique consonants and vowels, then use a second guess to narrow the remaining letter pool. Its writer, Kerry Brunskill, put it this way: “A good opening guess should contain a mix of unique consonants and vowels.” Watch for repeated letters, since a puzzle with none, like this one, can be solved faster once you have a few confirmed letters.
This is general guidance from one source, not a guaranteed method. It works best when you treat each guess as a test of which letters are present and where they sit.
