What is clear is the distinction between choosing to share your own image and someone else posting intimate media without consent: Reddit prohibits the latter, and public content can be copied beyond the platform.
What the title describes—and what is established
The phrase “women getting guys to rate their nudes on Reddit” describes a possible kind of post, not a verified trend. Available sources do not provide representative statistics on how many women do this, establish that men are the primary audience, or document posters’ reasons. A subreddit’s membership or individual posts cannot answer those broader questions.
It is important to distinguish a person choosing to post their own image from another person distributing intimate images without permission. The latter is prohibited by Reddit’s platform-wide rules.
What Reddit’s rules say about intimate images
Reddit Rule 3 states: “Never post or threaten to post intimate or sexually-explicit media of someone without their consent.” Read Reddit’s Rules.

Reddit’s guidance says this includes privately shared sexting images reposted beyond the intended recipient, even if the person sharing them does not intend to humiliate the subject. It also covers certain faked or AI-generated depictions. The policy distinguishes these cases from media distributed commercially with the consent of the people depicted. Public posts can travel beyond Reddit
Reddit says public posts, comments, usernames, profiles, karma scores and related metadata can be viewed by anyone with internet access. A public post is not guaranteed to be indexed or copied, but third parties may retain copies; deleting the original from Reddit does not ensure those copies disappear. Reddit’s Public Content Policy.

That makes the choice to post an intimate image different from sharing it privately: the audience may extend beyond the people a poster expects, and control over copies can be limited once content is public. This is a practical privacy risk, not a claim that every post will be copied or remain accessible forever.

Individual communities can set additional rules, so one rating subreddit should not be treated as representative of Reddit. The reviewed r/truerateme rules require posters to be at least 18 and to post only their own photos. They prohibit NSFW images, personal information, and sexually suggestive or rude comments. These rules illustrate one community’s stated limits; they do not establish how other communities operate or how consistently any subreddit enforces its rules.

If someone shares your intimate images without permission
- Report the specific content. On the post or comment, use Reddit’s reporting flow and choose “Non-Consensual Intimate Media.” Reddit’s help page gives instructions and support resources: What to do if intimate images are shared or threatened.
- Consider StopNCII. Reddit lists StopNCII, a free tool from UK charity SWGfL. It helps participating platforms detect and remove intimate media while protecting the user’s privacy. Its reach is limited to participating platforms, so it is not a guarantee that every copy everywhere will be removed.
- Use support resources if you need them. Reddit’s help page lists the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative helpline for people in the United States and international resources for people elsewhere.
