A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11If Wirecast starts dropping frames during a long YouTube broadcast, note exactly when it begins and compare Wirecast’s output and CPU readings with upload capacity, packet loss, and YouTube’s stream-health messages. A late start does not, by itself, mean the stream has a duration-related fault: CPU pressure, an unstable network path, and an ingest or playback issue need different checks.
Capture what changes when the drops begin
Record the time degradation starts and whether it recurs. Compare conditions at the beginning of the broadcast with conditions at the problem time; a speed test taken earlier may not represent the network later.
- In Wirecast, observe output FPS against the target, system CPU, output data rate, and any connection or queue indicator available in your installed version.
- In YouTube Live Control Room, check stream status and read any specific stream-health messages. These provide an ingest-side clue separate from Wirecast’s local indicators. YouTube: Monitor your live stream
- Note whether the local source or preview stutters, Wirecast output FPS falls, the output connection degrades, or only public playback appears poor.
Telestream notes that viewers may fail to decode a stream even when sender bandwidth and capacity appear adequate. If Wirecast’s output looks healthy but viewers report stutter, do not label it an encoder-side frame drop without evidence; investigate playback or distribution separately. Telestream Wirecast support
Check whether Wirecast is under encoding or rendering pressure
Telestream’s guidance is to keep system CPU below 60% while streaming; it says maintained use above that level increases the likelihood of dropped frames. This is vendor guidance, not a universal hardware law or a guarantee that a system below 60% cannot drop frames. Telestream Wirecast support

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Reduce load one setting at a time
- When the issue is occurring, note CPU and output FPS under the current scene and settings.
- Try a lower canvas or output resolution, such as 1280×720, or choose a lower-resolution encoding preset. Telestream’s FAQ also suggests disabling “Live GPU Accelerated Icons” to reduce load; menu names can vary by release, so check your installed version.
- Retest with the same scene complexity and observe CPU and FPS. If output FPS recovers after reducing resolution or frame rate, that points toward rendering or encoding load.
Higher frame rates increase CPU use and bitrate demand, according to Telestream. Avoid changing several settings at once: otherwise it is harder to identify which change affected the symptom. Telestream Wirecast support
Measure upload headroom and packet loss during the event
Test upload speed and packet loss while investigating, and compare available capacity with the combined settings for every active output destination, including any backup output. A speed test from another time may miss a later fluctuation or shared-network congestion.

These are distinct vendor recommendations, not one combined threshold. YouTube also warns that a shared office network can limit the bandwidth available to an individual streamer. If capacity is short or varies, lower the output bitrate; if needed, also reduce frame rate or frame size, then retest while watching the same indicators. Where practical, compare a wired Ethernet connection with Wi-Fi. That comparison is a diagnostic step based on YouTube’s recommendation for a reliable connection, not a guarantee that a cable fixes drops. YouTube: Streaming tips
Separate a destination problem from a local one
Telestream recommends sending a test stream to a test server. If Wirecast remains continuously green to the test destination but performs poorly at the regular destination, Telestream says the problem probably lies with that destination server and advises contacting the CDN host. For a YouTube broadcast, compare that result with Live Control Room’s stream-health messages.

A clean test destination narrows the likely fault to the destination path or service; it does not by itself prove YouTube is responsible. Keep the time of the test and the corresponding Wirecast and YouTube indicators so you can describe the difference clearly. Wirecast 16 User Guide · YouTube: Monitor your live stream
Verify the settings YouTube is receiving
Match Wirecast’s output resolution and frame rate to the intended YouTube ingestion settings, and test before going live using representative audio and motion. During the event, continue monitoring stream health. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, with intervals no longer than four seconds. Recommended bitrate depends on codec, ingestion resolution, and frame rate; consult YouTube’s current settings table for combinations beyond the examples below. YouTube: Encoder settings

Follow the evidence before changing codecs
If YouTube reports an ingest warning, follow the specific message and verify codec, bitrate, CBR, resolution, frame rate, and keyframe interval. Do not change codecs or other settings speculatively: the evidence should point to the branch you address.

Interpret a late-onset problem without blaming runtime alone
The reviewed vendor guidance does not identify one long-runtime-specific Wirecast defect or establish that elapsed time itself causes frame drops. Compare CPU, output FPS, bitrate, packet loss, and stream-health status at the start and at the time of degradation. A pattern that emerges late is useful evidence, but the time correlation is not a cause by itself.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive limit, not a dropped-frame threshold. If you are recording locally or preserving a copy, confirm that your local recording is still growing; archive behavior on YouTube is separate from diagnosing Wirecast output. Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is simply to keep an uploaded video live on YouTube around the clock, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative rather than a Wirecast diagnosis: upload your recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the upload from the cloud, so nothing has to stay running at home. Each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, or start the free first day.
