Why Dave Matthews was part of the ceremony
Matthews inducted Nelson, as well as joining him for the tribute and the closing “On the Road Again.” Nelson and Crow were both members of the 2023 Performer class, according to the Hall’s 2023 class page.

The Hall’s profile describes Nelson as “a unique American cultural icon, a celebrated performer, activist and innovator unbound by the fences of categorization.” That is the institution’s own profile language, rather than a quotation attributed to a particular speaker at the ceremony.
When and where the induction took place
The ceremony was held November 3, 2023, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, according to the Rock Hall’s 2023 annual report. Disney+ livestreamed the event and Apple Music carried its audio live; the program later aired on ABC on New Year’s Day. These are distribution details for the 2023 ceremony, not confirmation of where it can be watched now.

The Hall’s 2024 annual report says the ABC New Year’s Day broadcast reached 13 million viewers. That number describes the network airing; it is not the live audience at Barclays Center or a combined total for streaming and broadcast.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum Store lists a physical “Rock Hall 2023 – Induction Program” covering the class that includes Nelson and Crow. The listing establishes the commemorative program, but does not establish its current availability elsewhere or an Amazon listing.
