The Hunger Games has already continued beyond Katniss Everdeen’s original trilogy—but with books set earlier in Panem, not a direct follow-up to Mockingjay. The claim that “there will never” be a sequel is stronger than the accessible headline supports, and the available quotation is attributed to Suzanne Collins’s agent, not her editor.
Did Suzanne Collins’s editor say there will never be a sequel?
That attribution and certainty are not established by the available sources. The accessible Ground News listing points to a Polygon headline reading “There will likely never be a Hunger Games sequel”—a qualified claim, not the categorical “there will never.” The Polygon article itself is not accessible here, so its full context and sourcing cannot be confirmed. A separate reference-book excerpt quotes Collins’s agent, Jason Dravis, as replying to requests for more books: “No, the books are done.” That is a secondary source’s attribution to her agent, not evidence that Collins’s editor made the statement. Nor does the excerpt establish that no future Panem book of any kind could ever be published. Reference-book excerpt

Is Sunrise on the Reaping a sequel?
No. It is the fifth Hunger Games novel, but it is a prequel, not a continuation of Katniss’s life after Mockingjay. Scholastic places it 24 years before The Hunger Games, at the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. Scholastic’s announcement
Scholastic publisher and editorial director David Levithan described the book as exploring “a piece of the Hunger Games story that readers have longed to know more about.” That is a description of the prequel’s subject, not a promise or denial of a Katniss follow-up. Scholastic’s announcement

What about the next Hunger Games film?
