Are Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale legally married?
Byrne’s later comments clarify why headlines can sound contradictory. In a November 10, 2025, interview with The Washington Post, she said: “I say ‘married.’ We just haven’t gone to the courthouse yet, but we’re married.” She was describing their relationship in an informal sense, not confirming a legal marriage. Why they may call each other husband and wife
Byrne and Cannavale have used “married,” “husband” and “wife” colloquially while distinguishing that language from a legal marriage. Vanity Fair reported in December 2019 that a representative for the couple said they were not legally married “as of yet.” That earlier report shows the distinction has been made before, though Byrne’s 2025 remarks and the 2026 report are more recent. What is known about a wedding date?
The cited interviews and reporting establish Byrne’s stated intention in 2023 and a later account that the couple had not legally married. They do not establish that a wedding has since been scheduled or held. The most precise answer is that Byrne said they planned to marry, while available reporting through March 11, 2026, described them as not legally married.
