Hugh Jackman has not been confirmed for Avengers: Secret Wars. He has said he is no longer ruling out playing Wolverine again, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has spoken about future possibilities for Wolverine and Deadpool. Neither has named Secret Wars as a confirmed appearance. The latest statements cited here are from November and July 2025; casting news can change.
What Hugh Jackman said about playing Wolverine again
In a Variety Australia report published November 25, 2025, Jackman said, “Maybe. I am never saying ‘never’ ever again…” He added that he had meant it when he first said “never,” until he changed his mind, and that he had meant it for several years. The remarks leave the door open to playing Wolverine again; they do not commit him to a particular project. The report said whether he would appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars remained to be seen. Variety Australia
What Kevin Feige has said about Deadpool and Wolverine
In a July 21, 2025 Variety Australia report, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said, “I think there is more fun to be had with both of those characters. But we’ll see where.” This signals that Marvel sees room for more stories involving the characters, but it is not a casting announcement and does not identify Secret Wars as their destination. Variety Australia
In a separate GamesRadar+ interview, Feige said there had “absolutely been discussions” about Deadpool or Wolverine returning and that Marvel was in frequent contact with Ryan Reynolds. When asked if that meant both characters, he joked, “He’s doing it ‘til he’s 90, man!” The exchange indicates broad conversations and includes a quip; it does not confirm Jackman’s casting in Secret Wars. Why the Avengers: Doomsday cast list does not answer this
Associated Press coverage of the announced Avengers: Doomsday cast noted that Jackman and Reynolds were not among the names announced. That is information about that film’s announced cast, not evidence that Jackman is or is not appearing in Secret Wars. An omission from one cast announcement cannot settle the other film’s casting. What Marvel’s X-Men plans mean—and what they do not
Feige has also told Variety that Marvel plans to recast X-Men characters for a future X-Men film after Secret Wars. That is a broader statement about the franchise’s direction, not a confirmation that Jackman will appear in Secret Wars or a statement that he will not. The official Deadpool & Wolverine press kit identifies Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as stars of that film, confirming Jackman’s return there but offering no information about his future casting. What would count as confirmation?
A noncommittal interview comment, general discussion of future stories, a joke, or a cast list for another film does not establish that Jackman is in Secret Wars. Confirmation would require a direct announcement from Marvel or Disney, or an attributable statement that specifically names the film and Jackman. Until then, the accurate answer is that his return remains unconfirmed.
