Chu did say of the audience response, “It’s a filmmaker’s dream, and I think a storyteller’s dream to witness this.” Asked about directing “Defying Gravity,” he said, “It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my entire life to feel that pressure of this song, and that this is the show.” Neither sentence is a tease identifying particular bonus footage.

Universal announced the feature-length sing-along version as part of the home-release bonus offering. NBCUniversal later reported on March 20, 2025, that Wicked was available on Digital, 4K UHD, DVD, and Blu-ray, and described a Peacock release that included the sing-along version, deleted and extended scenes, a making-of documentary, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and interviews with Chu and cinematographer Alice Brooks.
