How Powerhouse Hobbs debuted in WWE
Royce Keys entered the men’s Royal Rumble at number 14. He eliminated Damian Priest before Bronson Reed eliminated him, according to F4WOnline. The elimination was a clear debut highlight, not a match victory.
Keys arrived after nearly six years in AEW, where he held the TNT and Trios Championships, F4WOnline reported. For viewers who followed that run, the new WWE appearance marked a significant change in both company and ring name.

The Rumble gave him an immediate stage
A Royal Rumble entrance puts a newcomer into a major match alongside established names. Keys’ number-14 entry and elimination of Priest gave the audience two concrete details to remember from his first WWE appearance. Being eliminated by Reed also kept the moment within the match’s competitive flow rather than presenting it as a win.
Keys said the move felt right to him

Booker T endorsed the decision
On “The Hall of Fame,” WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T said, “He made the right choice.” He described Keys’ walk in the Rumble as the beginning of what could be a major WWE run and said he was eager to see how Keys would be positioned. Wrestling Inc. transcribed the comments on February 4, 2026, in its report.
That is Booker’s assessment, not proof of how the move will turn out. The debut gave Keys a strong first impression, but the longer-term value depends on what WWE does with him next.

What the debut does—and does not—establish
The case for WWE’s choice rests on the combination of a prominent entrance, a legible transition from his former name, an immediate match highlight, and Keys’ own stated belief that the move made sense. Together, those elements make the debut feel purposeful rather than anonymous.
The available reports do not establish WWE’s internal reasoning, audience impact, or longer-term booking plans.
