That was the warning in Cave News Times’ March 16, 2026 opinion article, written before WrestleMania 42. In hindsight, its argument is best read as a booking case for keeping the reunion temporary—not as a prediction that remains unresolved.
What the original warning meant
The headline’s “last thing” was not any involvement by the Usos. The article’s position was narrower: WWE should avoid re-forming the Bloodline as an ongoing faction during the Punk–Reigns program, while still allowing the Usos to stand with their cousin. That is a booking opinion, not an official WWE policy or confirmation of what the company intended.

The distinction is between a one-feud alliance and a continuing group. A brief show of family support can make a personal conflict feel consequential. A permanent reunion makes a larger promise: that the faction has a continuing story purpose for Roman and the Usos after this rivalry ends.
Why the family conflict raised the stakes
Reigns entered the WrestleMania 42 program after winning the 2026 Royal Rumble and choosing World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk as his opponent, according to WWE’s official match page. WWE framed their history around their title records, Punk’s role in bringing The Shield to the main roster, Punk’s departure from WWE, Reigns’ comments about him, and their brief alliance at Survivor Series: WarGames.

Cave News Times’ March 16 article described Punk’s March 2 promo as invoking Reigns’ late father, Sika, after which the Usos appeared and demanded an apology. The author saw that beat as a way to make the feud personal and draw the family into it. The article’s argument was that this emotional involvement did not, by itself, require the Bloodline to return as a permanent faction.
WWE’s official Raw recaps document how the conflict became physical. On March 23, Reigns attacked Punk after Punk insulted the Usos and speared him during the altercation. On March 30, the melee ended with Punk powerbombing Reigns through the announce table. Those developments gave the Usos a role in the build without settling what their longer-term place beside Roman should be.
Two ways WWE could use the Usos

Why a permanent reunion carries a higher burden
A reunion can deliver a powerful moment, but repeating that moment without a new reason risks making the faction feel less distinctive. Cave News Times made a similar cautionary comparison to the nWo and D-Generation X, arguing that repeated returns can dilute the effect of a reunion. That is the article author’s assessment, not an independently established finding about either group.

If the Usos’ involvement exists mainly to heighten Roman’s personal conflict with Punk, a permanent faction would add an obligation to keep telling Bloodline stories even when this rivalry is over. If WWE has a compelling ongoing arc for all three men, a lasting reunion could have a purpose; the March 16 opinion article argued that the Punk program alone was not enough reason to make it permanent.

The match was not upcoming by the time of this article. WWE’s official WrestleMania report says Reigns defeated Punk on April 19, 2026, to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Punk could not complete a second GTS; Reigns hit a Spear, then another Spear to secure the victory.

That result makes the original argument retrospective. The question is no longer what a Bloodline reunion might do to build the match, but whether a temporary family alliance was the better way to tell that build. WWE’s official pages cited here establish the rivalry’s development and outcome, but do not establish the Bloodline’s precise status on October 8, 2026. The result of the match alone cannot answer whether the group later reunited or split.
The booking case in one decision
The strongest version of the original warning is not “keep the Usos away from Roman.” It is: let family loyalty matter in the Punk feud, then require a separate story reason before turning that loyalty into a lasting faction. That approach preserves the emotional force of the Usos’ involvement while leaving Roman and the Usos room to develop as distinct characters beyond one rivalry.
