The Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward “Eddie” Osefo, were arrested in Carroll County, Maryland, on October 9, 2025, after a grand jury indictment in an alleged insurance-fraud case. They were released on bond the following day. The charges remain allegations, not findings of guilt.
Why were Wendy and Eddie Osefo arrested?
The case concerns a burglary reported at the couple’s home in Finksburg, Maryland, on April 7, 2024. According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowners told investigators that approximately 80 items—including jewelry, luxury goods, clothing, and shoes—worth more than $200,000 had been stolen.
The sheriff’s office said investigators found that more than $20,000 worth of items reported stolen had been returned to retailers. Investigators also found an image showing a homeowner wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen after the burglary. These are details attributed to investigators; they do not establish that the reported burglary was fabricated or that the couple committed a crime.
CBS Baltimore’s report described the authorities’ allegations, including the claim that the reported burglary was fabricated. That remains an allegation, not a proven fact.

What charges do they face?
The Baltimore Banner reported that a Carroll County grand jury charged Wendy and Eddie Osefo with seven counts of insurance fraud, eight counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and one count of making a false statement to a police officer. The charges relate to the alleged burglary and insurance claims.
An indictment and an arrest are part of the legal process; neither is a conviction. The sheriff’s office stated that individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
When is Wendy and Eddie Osefo’s trial?
At a Carroll County Circuit Court status conference on May 20, 2026, a judge scheduled a joint trial for January 25–29, 2027, according to the Baltimore Banner. That is the latest reported schedule cited here; a court can change dates, and the schedule may have changed since that report.
