The Tiny Chef Show was canceled by Nickelodeon, with the news made public on June 24, 2025, in a stop-motion video showing Tiny Chef receive a phone call and break down. Fans responded in large numbers, but the creators later clarified that online support had kept Chef’s social content going for a time—not saved the cooking show.
Why was The Tiny Chef Show canceled?
Nickelodeon did not publicly explain its decision in the sources available. In a November 2025 interview with the Los Angeles Times, co-creator Rachel Larsen said the creators received a phone call with no explanation: “It was a phone call and zero explanation.” She also said the cancellation surprised them because, in her view, the show was doing well.
Larsen told the newspaper that the call came about a year after the last season and described audience retention as “90-something percent” compared with the preceding show. That is the co-creator’s account, not a published Nickelodeon ratings report or independently documented network statistic. The Times said the cancellation appeared to have happened during Paramount’s merger process, but Nickelodeon did not respond to its request for comment. The available reporting therefore does not establish the merger, ratings, or any other factor as the confirmed cause.
How the cancellation was announced—and why fans reacted
The show’s cancellation became public on June 24, 2025, through a stop-motion video in which Chef gets a call from Nickelodeon and is told, “What do you mean, canceled?” PerthNow reported that the video had more than 3.3 million TikTok views in its first two days.

The creators’ caption, as reproduced by PerthNow, thanked Nickelodeon for “two blamazing seasons” and said Chef was sad not to continue hosting the show he adored. It also invited fans to tell him how much he meant to them. The combination of a character’s gentle, emotional farewell and an apparently abrupt decision helped turn the announcement into a focal point for fan grief. The view count shows the post’s reach; it does not by itself establish how viewers felt or why the network canceled the series.
Was it canceled after two seasons or three?
The season count is not consistent across the available descriptions, so “after two seasons” should be understood as the creators’ wording rather than a universally settled count. Their farewell caption thanked Nickelodeon for “two blamazing seasons.” Nickelodeon’s March 25, 2024 announcement promoted new episodes beginning April 8 as season two. However, the Paramount+ episode-guide search result labels later episodes as season three, and NickALive! described the series as running 41 episodes across three seasons.

The Paramount+ page did not load for direct review, so its season-three labeling is reported here with that limitation. The sources do not explain whether the differing counts reflect episode packaging, season order, or another distinction.
What did fan support change?
On July 4, 2025, the show’s account clarified that the support had helped keep Chef on social media “for the time being,” but that the cooking show was still being worked on behind the scenes. NickALive! reproduced the update: “Because of your help we are able to keep Cheffy on socials for the time being but we are still working behind the scenes on saving his cooking show.” Social posts and the television series were separate outcomes; the update did not announce a renewal.

By November 25, 2025, the Los Angeles Times reported that the creators were still looking for a sustainable way forward and did not have an immediate revival prospect. The article said fans had contributed $130,000 in one-time donations and that 10,500 people were recurring monthly fan-club members at the time of publication. Those are figures reported then, not verified current totals. The series had also received two Children’s and Family Emmy Awards by that date, according to the Times.
