Valerie Bertinelli announced a temporary social-media break on May 17, 2024, saying she felt overwhelmed and mentally and emotionally exhausted after a demanding six weeks. The announcement was about a past pause, not evidence that she is currently off social media: TV Insider reported that she posted on Instagram again on October 6, 2026.

Why did Valerie Bertinelli take a social media break?

In her May 17, 2024 Instagram announcement, Bertinelli said the preceding six weeks had been “a LOT” and that she needed a mental-health break. She described herself as overwhelmed and mentally and emotionally exhausted, while also telling followers she was okay. ABC News reported the announcement the following day.

The busy period included promotion for her cookbook, Indulge: Delicious and Decadent Dishes to Enjoy and Share, released April 2, 2024. She connected her need for a pause to the demanding weeks and the support for her book; her statement does not identify cookbook promotion as the sole cause.

What did Bertinelli say about her mental-health break?

Calling herself “this here introvert in extrovert’s clothing,” Bertinelli said she was taking “a little social media cleanse/detox and a mental health break.” She added that she was grateful to recognize when she was overwhelmed and mentally and emotionally exhausted. These were her own descriptions of how she felt, not a clinical diagnosis or a claim that a social-media break treats a condition.

She reassured followers, “But, I’m good. Honest,” and said, “Y’all take care of yourselves. I’ll be back before you know it.” The fuller statement and its temporary framing were reported by TV Insider.

Is Valerie Bertinelli still taking the break?

No evidence in the available reporting supports describing the 2024 pause as ongoing. TV Insider reported that Bertinelli posted a video message on Instagram on October 6, 2026. That confirms she was posting again, but it does not establish her current posting frequency or her present mental-health status.
