Was Tyra Banks secretly living in Sydney?
In a January 13, 2025 report, PerthNow said Banks had been living in Australia for about 18 months and splitting her time between Sydney and Los Angeles while preparing to open SMiZE & DREAM’s first global store. The “secretly living” wording came from that dated report, not from a current statement about her whereabouts. The available reporting does not establish her precise residence or travel pattern as of October 2026. PerthNow’s January 2025 report said the shop was expected by midyear; that was a forecast, not confirmation of an opening.
Why did Banks choose Australia and Sydney?
Banks has connected the ice cream business to memories of spending time with her mother, Carolyn London. In an interview recounted by Real Commercial, she said Friday-night ice cream outings gave them time to bond while London was raising her as a single mother. Banks described the business as a tribute to her mother and the family’s shared love of ice cream.
She also said the business began producing in Melbourne for cruise accounts departing Australia and Asia. Repeated visits brought her family to Australia, and she cited the people and tourism as reasons for choosing Sydney for the flagship. These are Banks’s reported explanations for the decision. In a February 2026 interview with The CEO Magazine, she described the lifestyle change positively: “Living in Australia has been a dream come true,” she said.

Where is Tyra Banks’s ice cream shop?
SMiZE & DREAM’s Darling Harbour flagship launched in June 2025, according to Real Commercial’s retrospective December report. The current Darling Harbour venue listing gives the address as Retail 9, 35 Wheat Rd, Sydney NSW 2000.

Uber named these flavours in its launch-period announcement: CRUNCHY VANILLA, which it called an Uber Eats launch exclusive; TYRA’S FAVOURITE; DUBAI CHOC BAR: SMiZE’d Up; MATCHA MOCHI DOUGHCHI; MISS COCO LAMINGTON; and FAIRY DOUGH DIVA. These are products named in Uber’s October 2025 announcement, not a confirmed current menu. Check with the shop for present availability, prices, and dietary or allergen details.
