At Netflix’s live roast of Tom Brady on May 5, 2024, Jeff Ross made a massage joke about Robert Kraft, Brady stood up and told him, “Don’t say that s— again.” The exchange was captured on microphone for viewers at home. Ross later said Brady was having fun; former teammate Drew Bledsoe called the reaction authentic and unscripted. The accounts do not establish exactly what Brady privately felt.
What Jeff Ross said—and how Brady responded
The exchange happened during The Roast of Tom Brady, a live Netflix event at Los Angeles’s Kia Forum hosted by Kevin Hart. The Associated Press described the program as a three-hour roast. Netflix’s event listing gave May 5, 2024, as the event date.

Ross framed the joke as a story about Brady arriving as a rookie in New England. The Los Angeles Times transcribed Ross’s punchline: “I’m the best decision your organization has ever made. Would you like a massage?” Ross followed it with, “I love Robert Kraft.” The crowd laughed, and the camera showed Brady shifting in his seat before he walked toward Ross.
Brady told Ross, “Don’t say that s— again,” according to the Los Angeles Times transcription. The Associated Press rendered the line as “don’t say that (stuff) again.” AP reported that Brady’s microphone picked up the remark for viewers at home, though people in the venue did not hear it. Ross replied, “OK, OK!” and gestured toward Kraft, whom the Times reported was smiling. Brady returned to his seat and laughed during the rest of Ross’s set.

What the massage reference meant
The joke referred to a 2019 Florida case in which Kraft was charged with a misdemeanor after authorities alleged that he paid for sex at a massage parlor. The charge was dropped after courts blocked the use of video from cameras police had installed inside the massage parlors, AP reported. The charge was not a conviction.
Ross’s setup turned that news reference into a fictionalized moment from Brady’s early days with the Patriots. The reported exchange does not establish that the imagined conversation happened.

Was Brady actually angry?
The footage and reporting establish what Brady did and said, but not his private intent. Two people involved later offered their own interpretations, which differ in emphasis.
Jeff Ross said Brady was playing along
On May 7, 2024, Ross said Brady was “having fun.” He described Kraft as “like a father figure” to Brady, and said Kraft liked the joke and that the two spoke afterward.

Drew Bledsoe called the reaction genuine
Bledsoe, Brady’s former teammate and another guest at the roast, called the response “an authentic moment” and said, “That was not scripted.” The Los Angeles Times reported that Bledsoe could see the teleprompter from the stage.
Those accounts can coexist: Ross described Brady as having fun overall, while Bledsoe viewed the specific intervention as authentic and unscripted. Neither settles what Brady intended by the remark.

How Brady’s later comments fit
In an interview reported by The Washington Post on May 14, 2024, Brady said he enjoyed jokes directed at him but disliked the effect the roast had on his children: “I loved when the jokes were about me. I thought they were so fun. I didn’t like the way that it affected my kids.” That comment addressed the roast overall, not specifically the Kraft exchange, so it does not prove whether Brady was seriously angry at Ross.
