Tiësto withdrew from his planned Super Bowl LVIII DJ appearance because a personal family emergency required him to return home, he said. He did not disclose further details. The NFL named Kaskade as his replacement for pregame entertainment and featured breaks during the game.
Why did Tiësto drop out of the Super Bowl?
On February 8, 2024, Tiësto announced that he could not attend Super Bowl LVIII because of a personal family emergency. In his post on X, reproduced by DJ Mag, he wrote: “Me and my team have been preparing something truly special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning. It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first.”
He did not explain the circumstances, so the reason beyond the family emergency has not been made public. The Associated Press also reported that he was withdrawing for family reasons.
Who replaced Tiësto?
The NFL confirmed Kaskade as the replacement. Tiësto had been announced as the first in-game DJ for Super Bowl LVIII, with plans to perform during player warm-ups before kickoff and provide music during the game. Kaskade was set to take on the pregame entertainment and featured breaks during play, according to DJ Mag.

Was Kaskade the Super Bowl halftime performer?
No. Kaskade replaced Tiësto as the event’s DJ; his role was separate from the halftime show led by Usher. The DJ appearance covered pregame entertainment and selected breaks during the game, not the halftime performance.
