The Real Housewives of Miami did not officially get cancelled in 2013: Bravo stopped production after Season 3. Andy Cohen later attributed the decision not to order another season to declining ratings, including a drop for the reunion. The series returned in 2021 on Peacock after Bravo announced it was in development “After much fan demand.” A separate pause followed Season 7; in March 2026, NBCUniversal confirmed Bravo would not shoot more episodes but did not give a specific reason.
What happened when RHOM first went off the air?
The Real Housewives of Miami premiered on February 22, 2011, and aired three seasons on Bravo. Production stopped after Season 3 in 2013. Entertainment Tonight reported in 2021 that the series had not been officially cancelled; the distinction is that Bravo did not pick up another season, rather than announcing a formal cancellation. Entertainment Tonight reported the original pause and its context.

Andy Cohen, an executive producer of the franchise, later described declining ratings as a factor. He told ET that Season 3 ratings were “declining as it went on and they went down for the reunion,” which he said was usually the opposite of what happened. That is Cohen’s explanation as reported by ET, not a public ratings breakdown from Bravo. The cited account gives no numeric audience figures.
Why did RHOM return after eight years?
On February 17, 2021, Bravo announced that The Real Housewives of Miami was in development at Peacock, writing, “After much fan demand.” The announcement identifies fan interest as a stated factor in the return; it does not establish that demand was the only reason. Bravo’s announcement named Peacock as the revival’s platform.

The revival premiered on Peacock in 2021 with a mix of returning and new cast members. The frequently used “eight years” describes the gap between the 2013 production stop and the 2021 return by calendar year; it is not a precise elapsed-time calculation.
How does the later pause differ from the 2013 stop?
The pause after Season 7 is a separate event, not a continuation of the original break. In a March 19, 2026 report, the Miami Herald said NBCUniversal confirmed Bravo would not shoot more episodes. The report did not give a specific corporate explanation for that decision.
| Pause or return | What was confirmed | What reason was stated | Platform |
|---|---|---|---|
| After Season 3, 2013 | Production stopped; ET reported the show was not officially cancelled. | Cohen told ET that Season 3 ratings declined, including for the reunion. | Bravo |
| Revival, 2021 | Bravo announced the series was in development at Peacock. | Bravo’s announcement cited “much fan demand”; it did not call this the sole reason. | Peacock |
| After Season 7, confirmed March 2026 | NBCUniversal told the Miami Herald Bravo would not shoot more episodes. | No specific corporate reason was reported. | Not stated in the report |
Cohen offered his own perspective on the later break, telling the Miami Herald, “I think we’re looking at how to keep it as fresh as possible.” He also said he saw a benefit in waiting. Those comments explain his view of pauses; they are not a definitive network explanation or a promise that the show will return.
