The Outlaw Music Festival canceled its July 1, 2025, 10th-anniversary concert at Lucky Star Amphitheater in El Reno, Oklahoma, after a storm damaged and waterlogged festival equipment and artists’ instruments at the June 29 show in Ridgedale, Missouri. Organizers said they could not assess the gear quickly enough to determine whether it could be used safely the next day. The event notice directed ticket holders to seek refunds through their original point of purchase.
What happened before the El Reno cancellation?
On June 29, 2025, heavy rain and high winds struck the Outlaw Music Festival at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, Missouri. The crowd was evacuated. The festival’s notice said much of its equipment and artists’ instruments were damaged and waterlogged. The festival’s event notice and a June 30 iHeart report quoting the explanation describe the damage and its effect on the following day’s performance.
Why was the July 1 El Reno show canceled?
The affected gear could not be assessed in time to establish whether it was safe to use for the next day’s concert. A statement attributed to Willie Nelson said: “Unfortunately, much of the Outlaw Music Festival’s equipment and artists’ instruments were damaged and waterlogged, making their condition difficult to assess in time to accurately and safely use for tomorrow’s show.” The statement was published June 30, one day before the El Reno performance was scheduled.
The festival notice attributed the announcement and apology to Blackbird Presents, Lucky Star Amphitheater, and DCF Concerts; it did not identify an individual author. KOCO 5 also reported the El Reno cancellation and its stated weather-related cause. KOCO 5’s local report

Which concert was canceled—and what about refunds?
The canceled event was the July 1, 2025, 10th-anniversary concert at Lucky Star Amphitheater in El Reno, Oklahoma. The event notice said refunds would be issued to the original point of purchase and estimated that they would appear within 7–10 business days. That estimate was stated on the event page, which was updated in 2026; individual refund outcomes are not verified here. Ticket holders should contact the seller they bought from if they need to check a particular refund.
How was the Ridgedale show different?
The June 29 concert in Ridgedale was the event where the storm damage occurred. In a July 2 follow-up, Willie Nelson said that show could not be rescheduled and that ticket holders would receive information about next steps for refunds. What the public account does—and does not—establish
Organizers linked the El Reno cancellation to heavy rain and high winds at the preceding Ridgedale event and to the difficulty of checking damaged, waterlogged equipment and instruments in time for safe use. The public account does not provide an itemized list of damaged equipment, a dollar value for losses, a technical inspection, or weather-service measurements. It therefore supports the stated reason for the cancellation, but not more specific claims about precisely what failed or how extensive the damage was.
