Those are The Game’s explanations—not proof of one definitive private cause or evidence that the two artists remain locked in a mutual feud.
What happened between The Game and Eminem?
The public flare-up gathered attention in 2022. The Game compared himself with Eminem during an appearance on Drink Champs, then released “The Black Slim Shady,” a diss track directed at Eminem, on his album Drillmatic: Heart vs. Mind. Pitchfork described the more-than-10-minute track as drawing on Eminem’s music and persona: Pitchfork’s report on the track.

In later interview coverage, The Game explained why he chose Eminem as a target. His comments point to a mix of challenge and personal context, rather than a single settled cause.
Why did The Game target Eminem?
He saw it as a challenge
The Game said that relatively few people take on Eminem, making him a difficult and conspicuous target. That helps explain the competitive appeal of the diss, but it does not establish that competition was his only motive. Complex’s account of his explanation and Uproxx’s coverage both report this challenge framing.

He invoked Dr. Dre
The Game also tied his decision to his relationship with Dr. Dre. Dre’s place in The Game’s career and Eminem’s connections to Dre formed part of the context he raised. That link is an explanation attributed to The Game, not independent confirmation of a private dispute between the artists. Complex and Uproxx report this part of his account.
He connected Eminem to the 50 Cent feud
The Game’s account also drew on his long-running conflict with 50 Cent, with whom he had a major public falling-out after his early G-Unit period. The Game revisited that history in a 2022 Drink Champs interview, including tensions over 50 Cent’s claims about writing and his contribution to The Game’s success. REVOLT’s coverage of the 50 Cent conflict provides that background.

- Originally released on December 6, 2005, Curtain Call - The Hits features Eminem's most popular songs from his first 4 albums and the 8 Mile soundtrack, released through Aftermath/Interscope
Because Eminem was aligned with 50 Cent, The Game said that relationship factored into his choice of target. He also expressed respect for Eminem’s career, according to iHeart’s account. The 50 Cent feud is therefore relevant context, but it does not by itself explain the diss: The Game also described the challenge and invoked Dr. Dre.
Was the Eminem diss really about 50 Cent?
Partly, according to The Game’s public explanation—but not exclusively. He linked Eminem to the 50 Cent dispute while also describing the challenge of taking on Eminem and bringing up Dr. Dre. The available accounts document what The Game said about his decision; they do not establish one definitive reason accepted by both artists.

Is The Game still feuding with Eminem?
The documented record supports a public diss and The Game’s reported explanations for it. It does not establish an ongoing mutual personal feud as of October 2026, or provide an Eminem statement settling how the dispute began. It is more precise to describe this as The Game’s 2022 public attack and the reasons he gave for it than to assume the two artists are currently engaged in a feud.
