Gisella Colletti finished third on Australian Idol in 2025, after Marshall Hamburger and Iilysh Retallick advanced to the final two. Hamburger won. The word “robbed” came from some viewers’ reactions reported by PerthNow; the available reporting does not establish that the result was unfair or manipulated.
What happened in the Australian Idol final?
Colletti, a finalist from Perth, was eliminated when the competition reached its final three. That left Hamburger and Retallick to contest the title, with Hamburger ultimately crowned the 2025 winner and Retallick finishing runner-up, according to The West Australian’s finale report.

The West Australian reported that the three finalists received 1.2 million votes between them. That is the newspaper’s reported combined figure; its report does not give candidate-by-candidate totals, and the available sources do not include primary vote records. The number therefore cannot show how close the result was or how votes were distributed.
Why did some viewers say Colletti was “robbed”?
After the result, PerthNow reported disappointment among some viewers and quoted social-media posts critical of Colletti’s elimination. One post read: “GASP…. GISELLA…. GIRL… YOU WERE ROBBED!!! ROBBED!!!” Another said, “Meh. Don’t care who wins now. Gisela should have taken this out by a landslide’”. These are examples selected and reported by PerthNow, not a representative survey or proof of how the audience as a whole felt.

The distinction matters: Colletti’s third-place finish is the reported competition outcome; “robbed” is a fan’s opinion about that outcome. The cited coverage does not provide evidence of vote manipulation, an unfair process, or a basis for comparing finalists’ support.
What did Colletti say after the result?
PerthNow quoted Colletti saying: “I left my heart out on that stage. I’m never turning back, no matter what happens. I’m so ready to go out there and make my own music.” She also posted: “I gave it everything I had now it’s time to have fun with Tina Arena”.

What happened after Idol?
PerthNow reported that host Ricki-Lee Coulter announced Tina Arena had invited Colletti to perform on Arena’s Australian tour after their duet. The City of Cockburn, which identified Colletti as a local artist from Banjup, also reported that she performed with Arena at the tour’s Perth opening night.
