Some devoted fans still pay above-average prices to see favorite artists, but concertgoers are not broadly unfazed by rising costs. Surveys from the United States, Finland and the UK show both sides: live music can be worth a premium to highly engaged fans, while price leads others to reconsider or skip shows altogether.
Why some fans keep paying
A concert is not interchangeable with an ordinary night out for everyone. Fans may value the chance to see a particular artist in person enough to make room for a costly ticket, even when they notice the price. That helps explain why complaints about affordability can coexist with strong demand for specific events; it does not mean fans are indifferent to price or will keep paying indefinitely.
Deloitte’s 2024 analysis of its US Digital Media Trends survey found that respondents who identified as music artist fans and had attended a concert in the previous six months spent US$16 more per ticket than the average concert attendee. Deloitte also reported willingness among surveyed fans to spend on favorite musicians’ stadium concerts. This is evidence of higher spending among one engaged group in the United States, not a typical ticket price or a finding about all fans.
The wider stakes are significant in the UK: the Department for Culture, Media and Sport said the live music sector generated over £6 billion in 2023. The department has also noted that live events can be emotionally important, while price and other event-specific factors affect whether an individual can attend.

Why “unfazed” misses the other half
Some fans decide the ticket costs too much
In Teosto’s 2024 survey in Finland, 56% of respondents said they had decided not to buy a ticket to a gig, concert or music festival because of its high price. Teosto also presented Nordea payment-card statistics showing concert-ticket sales decreased by approximately 20% in summer 2024 compared with summer 2023. That comparison is specific to the Finnish data presented by Teosto; it does not establish that ticket prices alone caused the change or describe every ticket market.
Rising costs prompt reconsideration in the UK, too
A Santander UK press release about its 2026 study said 71% of concertgoers surveyed had thought twice about seeing artists live because of rising costs. The same study reported an average gig or festival ticket cost of £128 and described it as 212% higher than in the early 2000s. These are findings attributed to Santander’s study, not independent government statistics, and its survey should not be treated as directly comparable with Teosto’s Finnish results.

- High Fidelity: Hearprotek Music ear plugs do an effective job of bringing down the overall volume, blocking background noises at a comfortable level while preserving the sound clarity and sharpness and you will be able to hear different sound frequencies
- 23 db Noise Reduction: Comes with 2 sets of 23 db ear plugs in different sizes (small & standard), cutting up an impressive 23 db's of sound volume. You can always have your spare plug in case any plugs are fallen out unfortunately or missing
- Designed For Comfort: Made of high quality silicone material that provides comfort from prolonged usage. They are designed to have an ergonomic curved body that follows the shape of your ear canal, which provides a snag and comfortable fit

- Warm tips: The earplugs will not block all the noise completely, but they will preserve the quality of the music and make the volume within a safer listening level. So they’re not recommended for sleeping, hunting, shooting, motorcycling etc
Across these findings, the clearest conclusion is not that fans have reached a universal spending limit—or that there is no limit. People make different choices according to their budget and how much a particular event matters to them. The available figures document both willingness to spend among some highly engaged fans and cost-related hesitation or non-purchase among others; they do not settle whether the ceiling has been reached.
Why the price on the listing may not be the price you pay
Ticket prices are easier to misread when different costs and pricing mechanisms are lumped together. Three comparisons help clarify what a buyer is looking at:

- HIGH FIDELITY EAR PLUGS - You may experience muffling when you wear foam-based ones. But those days are gone. You will be able to hear different sound frequencies and talk to people with these HIFI earplugs since they reduce noise evenly and maintain the full frequency.
- ECO-FRIENDLY DESIGN - These hypoallergenic silicone earplugs are washable and reusable, so if you keep them right, they will stay with you for years. In contrast, the Polyurethane foam takes up to 5 years to degrade in nature. So it's cool to have personalized and exclusive silicone earplugs!
- NOISE REDUCTION 23dB - The acoustic filter elements in the ear plug can reduce the volume by 23 dB, which is an ideal value for concerts or band rehearsals. So you can do more of what you love while minimizing the risk of noise-induced hearing loss, tinnitus, and anxiety.
- REURE CAN PROTECT YOU ANYWHERE - The compact case protects your earplugs. You can attach it on your key chain, jeans, or backpack and it can follow you anywhere. Ideal for concerts, noise sensitivity, tinnitus relief, motorcycles, musicians, sports events, flying, sleeping noise cancelling, etc.
- PERFECT FIT GUARANTEE - Every order comes with two pairs of different-sized ear plugs so that you can have the most comfortable experience. If you have any problems when you are using it, please get in touch with our support team to get the best after-sales service 🙂
- Advertised starting price versus checkout total: The UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s 2025 response to its pricing call for evidence says some consultation respondents reported unavoidable charges adding 20–40% to the initially advertised “from” price. This describes reported experiences, not a representative measurement of all purchases.
- Original face value versus a demand-based price: Dynamic pricing changes a ticket’s price in response to variables such as demand, availability or timing. It is distinct from resale markups: a demand-based price is not the same thing as a third party reselling a ticket, and neither should be confused with added fees.
- A ticket’s price versus its importance to a fan: The same amount may be an acceptable trade-off for someone who considers a particular show unmissable and unaffordable for someone else. Spending more does not prove a buyer thinks the price is fair.
The 2025 UK consultation response also describes fans feeling pressured to make quick decisions when prices might rise suddenly. Separately, the UK Parliament’s 2026 fan-led review records concerns that ticketing for larger events can feel opaque or exploitative, and that pricing, availability and resale practices can exclude lower-income audiences and people with specific access requirements. Those are documented concerns and perceptions, not proof that every event or ticketing system works the same way.

The figures come from different countries, years and survey contexts: Deloitte’s finding concerns a US consumer survey; Teosto’s concerns Finland; and the government, parliamentary and Santander material concerns the UK. Their percentages should not be lined up as if they came from one survey measuring the same people in the same way.

Together, the evidence supports a divided picture: some fans prioritize live experiences enough to pay more, while others reconsider or stay home when the cost is too high. It does not show that all fans remain willing to pay, that price increases alone explain every change in attendance, or that the most expensive tickets represent a typical concert outing.
