Why is Pornhub blocked in Florida?
Florida’s HB 3, signed in 2024, requires covered websites publishing material deemed harmful to minors to verify that users are at least 18. Local reporting said the relevant provisions took effect on January 1, 2025. In December 2024, Aylo announced it would restrict Florida access when the rule began. The restriction was the company’s response to the requirement, rather than a finding that a court had ordered Pornhub to leave the state. Aylo said it supports age verification in principle but objects to approaches it believes could put users’ privacy and safety at risk. In a statement published by WKMG ClickOrlando, the company said: “First, to be clear, Aylo has publicly supported age verification of users for years, but we believe that any law to this effect must preserve user safety and privacy, and must effectively protect children from accessing content intended for adults.” No individual speaker was named. These are the company’s stated reasons, not independently established effects of Florida’s law.
How do site-level and device-based age checks differ?
Florida’s law places the verification requirement on covered websites. Aylo instead advocates verifying age at the device level, before a person reaches an adult site. The distinction is about where a check happens; the available statements do not establish that either model is more effective at keeping minors from adult content or definitively safer for users’ data.

Aylo summarized its position this way: “The best solution to make the internet safer, preserve user privacy, and prevent children from accessing adult content is performing age verification at the source: on the device.” That is the company’s policy argument, not a settled finding about the approach’s effectiveness.
Was Pornhub still blocked in Florida?
Axios reported on August 4, 2026, that Pornhub remained inaccessible through direct access in Florida. Axios also reported that Aylo had sent a letter to more than 300 state leaders, including Florida’s governor and attorney general, asking them to reconsider or rescind age-verification laws. What legal action did Florida take?
Florida’s attorney general announced complaints in 2025 against pornography websites, including Aylo entities associated with Pornhub, alleging violations of the age-verification law. The complaints are allegations and an enforcement action, not proof of a violation or a final court judgment. Axios reported that an adult-industry coalition had dropped its challenge to Florida’s law after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a similar Texas law. That development does not resolve the separate enforcement complaint against Aylo entities. The cited reporting does not establish the complaint’s current procedural status or final outcome. No. Axios reported in December 2024 that Aylo claimed Pornhub traffic in Louisiana fell by approximately 80% after a similar law. That was a company-provided comparison, not an independently verified measurement of Florida traffic or of HB 3’s effects in Florida. Axios’s December 18, 2024 report attributed the Louisiana figure to Aylo.
