Pascal Ibgui left Joan Vassos’s season of The Golden Bachelorette during Fantasy Suites week because, by his account, he did not feel the romantic spark or chemistry he needed. He also said he felt guarded and wanted to leave before the Fantasy Suite portion, rather than let viewers misunderstand his intentions. Those are Ibgui’s explanations from interviews reported in 2024—not evidence of a hidden scandal.
Who left Joan Vassos’s season, and when?
Pascal Ibgui, a Chicago salon owner described in ABC’s show material, left before Vassos made her final choice. His departure came during Fantasy Suites week, a late stage of the season when the remaining couple relationships are explored more privately.
What reason did Pascal give for leaving?
In post-show comments reported on November 7, 2024, Ibgui said he did not feel the spark or chemistry he wanted in a romantic relationship. As quoted by Collider, he said: “I need that spark. I need that sense. I need that smell. I need that touch. And that’s the combination of everything.” He described himself as particular about attraction, while also saying he had learned to be more open; Just Jared quoted him saying, “What I learned is to be more open.”
Why did he want to leave before Fantasy Suites?
An earlier exit interview published by TheWrap on October 30, 2024 adds context about the timing. Ibgui said he had felt guarded and wanted to leave before the Fantasy Suite portion so viewers would not think he had misled Vassos or that sex was the issue. That account describes how he wanted to handle his exit; his later comments explain his assessment of their romantic compatibility.

How did Joan Vassos describe their Tahiti date?
Vassos offered a separate account of the date in Tahiti. Us Weekly reported that she called the date uncomfortable, particularly the Tahitian bonding ceremony: “On that date [in Tahiti], it just felt off. It didn’t feel off right in the beginning, but then the Tahitian bonding ceremony was kind of uncomfortable.” Her reaction provides context about how the date felt to her, but it does not establish Ibgui’s motive for leaving.

The contemporary accounts support a straightforward explanation: Ibgui said he lacked the chemistry he needed and wanted to leave before Fantasy Suites for fear of being misunderstood. Vassos separately described discomfort during their Tahiti date. The reporting does not establish that the show, Vassos, or an outside event caused his decision.
