Reports published in March 2019 said Nicole Kidman would not attend her son Connor Cruise’s wedding. The explanation attributed to an anonymous source was that Tom Cruise did not want her there, with Scientology cited as a factor. That account was not confirmed directly by Connor, Tom or Nicole, so the private reason for her reported absence remains unestablished.
What reports said about Nicole Kidman’s absence
In March 2019, EL PAÍS and the Evening Standard reported that Kidman would not attend Connor Cruise’s wedding. Both traced the claim to Radar Online and an anonymous insider. The account alleged that Tom Cruise opposed Kidman’s attendance and linked the alleged decision to Scientology.
Those articles are not independent confirmations: both relay the same underlying anonymous-source report. None of the sources cited here provides an on-record explanation from Connor, Tom or Nicole confirming why Kidman was absent or whether she was invited.
What the Scientology claim does—and does not—establish
The anonymous account reportedly described Kidman as a “suppressive person.” The Evening Standard discussed that phrase as terminology used by the Church of Scientology, but that context does not show that the Church officially designated Kidman that way. Nor does it independently verify that the term or Scientology shaped the wedding decision.

Accordingly, it is accurate to say that the reports alleged a connection between Scientology and the attendance decision. It is not established that Tom banned Kidman, that Connor followed such an instruction, or that the Church made a formal designation about her.
Kidman’s earlier comments about her children
In November 2018, Tgcom24 reported comments Kidman made in an interview with Australian magazine Who. She said her adult children had chosen Scientology and that, as their mother, her job was to love them. The report rendered her remarks in English as: “They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions. They have chosen Scientology and, as a mother, it is my job to love them.” Translation may vary; this is an English rendering reported by Tgcom24, not a verified quotation from the original interview. Tgcom24’s report provides context about her public comments, but it does not explain the later wedding absence.

Relevant family context
The Evening Standard reported that Connor and Isabella attended Kidman’s 2006 wedding to Keith Urban. That earlier event is relevant context: it would be misleading to imply that they had never attended a family occasion with her. It does not, however, settle what happened around Connor’s reported wedding in 2019.

The most defensible answer is that the press explanation was an allegation: an anonymous source relayed through Radar Online said Tom Cruise did not want Kidman at the ceremony and connected the matter to Scientology. The available reporting does not independently establish the family’s private reason for her reported absence.
