What did The Big Bang Theory say about Madhuri Dixit?
The reported exchange appears in season 2, episode 1. Sheldon Cooper compares Aishwarya Rai to Dixit, calling Rai “a poor man’s Madhuri Dixit.” Raj Koothrappali then responds with a derogatory insult about Dixit. NDTV and ABP News reported the exchange in March 2023; the insult uses a slur, so its wording is not necessary to understand why the scene drew criticism.

Why was Netflix sent a legal notice?
According to NDTV’s March 28, 2023 report, Kumar sent Netflix a legal notice seeking removal of the episode. He characterized the remarks as disrespectful and defamatory and argued that the content promoted discrimination against women. These were Kumar’s allegations, not findings by a court.

ABP News reported Kumar’s argument that streaming services have a responsibility to carefully curate the content offered on their platforms. That is his stated view about platform responsibility, not a legal ruling.

The contemporaneous reports establish a legal notice and a threat of further legal action if Netflix did not comply. They do not establish that a lawsuit was subsequently filed or adjudicated, how Netflix responded, or whether the episode was removed or remains available in India. It would therefore be inaccurate to say, on the basis of these reports, that Netflix refused responsibility or that the threatened action resulted in a court case.
