The notice cited exhaustion among the band and crew. Morrissey separately said that a lack of financial support and extensive travel were contributing problems; the available reports do not independently verify the tour’s finances or establish that financial hardship was the direct cause of the cancellation.
What happened to the Stockholm concert?
The Hovet show was scheduled for Monday, June 23, 2025, and was called off the previous night. SVT reported that the cancellation notice attributed the decision to exhaustion among the band and crew. SVT’s report on the cancellation and a contemporaneous NME report identify the Stockholm date.
SVT also reported that ticket seller AXS said ticket buyers would be refunded. The report did not specify when refunds would be processed or confirm the status of individual buyers.
Was it exhaustion or lack of financial support?
Those explanations came from different sources and should not be treated as interchangeable. The cancellation notice cited exhaustion among the band and crew. In a public statement, Morrissey described a lack of financial support for reaching Nordic cities as well as severe travel fatigue. His comments provide his broader account, but do not independently establish the tour’s finances or prove that financial support was the cancellation’s direct cause.

Morrissey addressed Stockholm alongside Reykjavík, Trondheim, Helsinki and Aarhus. He said that “imaginary record labels” were not providing financial support to reach those places. He also claimed that no label would release the band’s music and no radio would play it, while describing ticket sales as “sensational.” These are his assertions, not independently verified measures of label or radio support, or ticket sales.
What Morrissey said about the travel
In English wording reported by NME on June 23, 2025, Morrissey said: “In the last seven days we have traveled into six countries, and we are travel-weary beyond belief. We can barely see.” The six-country figure is his own account, not an independently audited touring statistic.

How the separate Skansen cancellation differed
The Skansen appearance was a separate engagement, not the Hovet concert. SVT quoted Skansen press officer Clarie Åkesson as saying that the appearance was canceled because of illness. That explanation should not be conflated with the Hovet notice’s exhaustion explanation or Morrissey’s comments about financial support and travel.
