Her departure followed the Season 4 finale’s revelation about her involvement with the Reality Von Tease Instagram account. At the time, producers described a breakdown in trust among the cast and a need for distance—not a detailed formal firing announcement.
What happened with Monica Garcia and Reality Von Tease?
Garcia joined RHOSLC in Season 4. In the finale, the cast learned of her connection to Reality Von Tease, an Instagram account that had posted about the women. The revelation became the central conflict between Garcia and her castmates. Bravo’s account of the finale describes the moment that brought the dispute into the open.
At the reunion, Garcia acknowledged involvement with the page but disputed the extent of her role. Bravo reported her saying, “I did not set up the account, I didn’t name the account, or open the account.” She also said, “I mean, I think there’s a ton that’s been misunderstood.” Garcia brought what she called a “burn book” of receipts. Those were her claims and explanations, not independent findings about who created or authored every post.
The reunion recap also records cast members debating whether they could trust Garcia. Their accusations and responses should be understood as statements made during a contentious reunion, not as independently verified conclusions. Bravo’s reunion recap summarizes that exchange.

Why did Monica Garcia leave RHOSLC?
The cast’s trust had broken down
Showrunner Lori Gordon framed the immediate problem as a relationship issue. In comments reported by Bravo after the reunion, she said, “The whole franchise is based on friends, and people who know each other and circulate in the same circles,” and added, “The women just need a cooling off period.” Gordon said it was too soon for the women to return to a trusting friendship because not enough time had passed. Bravo’s report on the comments also quoted executive producer and host Andy Cohen saying, “Who knows? Anything can happen. And I love a comeback.” Cohen said it would be good to find a path forward for Garcia, while agreeing that the situation felt too raw.
She ultimately did not return for Season 5
Those comments left open the possibility of a future reconciliation; they were not confirmation that Garcia would be back. The Los Angeles Times reported on January 24, 2024 that Garcia would not return for Season 5. The report connected the decision to the fallout from the finale and described Gordon’s cooling-off-period explanation. The available reporting does not provide a detailed formal statement announcing that Garcia had been fired.

What did production know, and when?
The accounts about when producers learned of Garcia’s involvement differ. In a January 23, 2024 interview, NBCUniversal production executive Noah Samton told TheWrap that production learned about the account during the Bermuda scene. TheWrap also reported that Garcia said at the reunion she had disclosed her involvement during casting. Samton said he did not know whether such a conversation with a casting producer had happened and that it had not been relayed to him. The available accounts do not settle whether, or when, a disclosure was made to production.

RHOSLC continued into Season 5 without Garcia. Bravo’s official Season 5 reunion listing gives January 22, 2025, as the reunion’s air date and describes the season’s cast reunion. It establishes that the show proceeded through Season 5, but it is not a formal casting announcement or evidence of current plans for Garcia. The 2024 comments about a possible comeback were possibilities expressed at the time, not confirmation of a later return.
