Mark Zuckerberg swore during a live-streamed conversation with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at SIGGRAPH 2024 while venting about closed platforms. After saying “nah, fuck that,” he apologized; Huang joked, “There goes our broadcast opportunity.”
What happened onstage
Futurism’s Maggie Harrison Dupré reported on August 1, 2024, that the exchange took place on Monday during SIGGRAPH 2024. The conversation between Zuckerberg and Huang was live-streamed. The report does not give a session time or recording timestamp.
According to Futurism, Zuckerberg was describing projects he had tried to build but could not because a platform provider would not permit them. He said: “There just have been too many things that I’ve tried to build and then have just been told ‘nah you can’t really build that’ by the platform provider, that at some level I’m just like, ‘nah, fuck that.’”
Why Zuckerberg said it
The remark came in the context of Zuckerberg’s frustration with closed platforms and the limits platform providers can place on what others build. It was not described as part of a product demonstration or as a separate public controversy.
Futurism connected the conversation to Meta’s support for open-source AI and the newly announced Llama 3.1 model. That context does not make the onstage remark an official Meta policy statement.
How Huang and Zuckerberg reacted
Huang responded, “There goes our broadcast opportunity.” Zuckerberg said, “Sorry,” then added, “Get me talking about closed platforms, and I get angry,” according to Futurism.
