Ace Greene and Chelley Bissainthe, original Islanders on Love Island USA season 7, were eliminated after viewers gave them the fewest votes in a poll asking America to choose its favorite couple. Their relationship had recently become exclusive, but that did not protect them from the public vote.
Why were Ace and Chelley voted off?
In the July 11, 2025 episode, the couple received the fewest votes in a favorite-couple poll and left the villa before the finale. The July 12 report from Black Information Network describes the vote as viewers choosing their favorite couple; it does not give vote totals, the number of people who voted, or polling methodology. The result therefore explains the elimination, but not how close the couple came to staying.
Ace and Chelley were among the season’s OG Islanders, and they had recently “closed off” their relationship—the show’s phrasing for becoming exclusive. Four couples remained to compete for the finale vote after their exit.
What did Ace and Chelley say about leaving?
Their departure was bittersweet. Chelley said she was sad to leave close friends and people they loved in the villa, but took comfort in leaving together. Ace said that making the relationship exclusive made his journey feel complete. In comments reported by Black Information Network, he put it this way: “We had a long process throughout this entire season, and once I felt like it was time for me and her to be exclusive, I felt at that moment my journey ended. I was cool with it. It was just time for us to leave.”

Chelley framed their shared exit as a win: “We got to walk out together, so that means we won. So there’s not anything more I could really ask for.” Their remarks present the elimination as the end of their time in the villa, not necessarily the end of their relationship.
Was this really the show’s “most emotional” exit?
The available coverage supports calling Ace and Chelley’s departure emotional and bittersweet, but it does not rank it as the show’s “most emotional” exit. That superlative appears in a separate Nine/9Now account about Love Island Australia 2023, not this Love Island USA episode.

In the Australian exit, OG Islander Trent was left single with Nakia, and the remaining couples voted on whose time in the villa was over. Ace and Chelley’s US exit used a different mechanism: a public poll in which viewers chose their favorite couple. The two stories should not be conflated.
