She nevertheless believed they were in a good place in the week before he ended the engagement. They were discussing reception songs, she said, so the breakup did not match the relationship’s recent direction as she saw it. “I was blindsided because I thought we were in a really, really great spot, as I mentioned during the breakup,” she told Glamour. She also described the decision as a shock because every moment felt crucial in the circumstances.
Did Jimmy tell Chelsea he might not go to the altar?
According to Chelsea’s Glamour interview, yes. She said he raised the possibility twice, once privately and once on camera. Her account also includes her response: she asked him to proceed day by day, and she understood that he agreed. Those earlier conversations and her later sense that they were doing well can both be true; she described the final decision as surprising despite having heard his doubts.

What did Jimmy say caused the breakup?
In Us Weekly’s March 6, 2024 report, Jimmy said he wanted to get Chelsea to the altar but felt she had broken his trust by bringing up a personal issue on camera. Chelsea’s response, as reported by Us Weekly, was that the subject mattered to her as she considered whether to marry him. The reporting presents their statements, not an independent determination of whose interpretation was correct or the complete private history of the relationship.
How the breakup fits the show’s season-six story
Netflix’s season-six recap says Chelsea connected with both Trevor and Jimmy in the pods, while Jimmy also connected with Jessica. Chelsea chose Jimmy, and the two became engaged. The recap follows their relationship through the reveal, travel and conflicts after they returned to Charlotte. It provides the televised context, rather than a full account of events outside the show.

In later cast coverage, Jimmy reflected, “I regret not breaking things off a bit earlier.” That is a retrospective comment reported by Netflix Tudum; it adds context but does not, on its own, settle every reason for the breakup.
What Chelsea said about their relationship afterward
In the March 2024 Glamour interview, Chelsea said she and Jimmy were friends and in a good place as friends after the show.
