Katherine Renee Kane said she left FBI because she wanted to pursue “new creative endeavors.” The show did not give a more specific private or contractual reason for her decision. In the Season 7 premiere, her character, Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, received a separate on-screen explanation for leaving the team.
What Kane said about leaving FBI
Kane joined the CBS drama in Season 3 as Special Agent Tiffany Wallace and departed during Season 7, after four seasons. In an August 20, 2024 report, TV Insider quoted her explanation: “It was time to look towards new creative endeavors. I’m excited for the future and wish the show all the best.” The report said she was expected to appear in at least one Season 7 episode.

That is the public reason Kane gave. The available reporting does not establish a more specific personal, contractual, or production cause, so claims about those possibilities should not be treated as fact.
Why Tiffany Wallace left in the story
Kane’s departure and Tiffany’s fictional decision are related, but they are not the same explanation. In the Season 7 premiere, Tiffany had already given notice. She finished a final day with the team and moved to Georgia to live near her sister.

In the episode, Tiffany explained that she had wanted closure after Hakim was gone but did not get it: “It wasn’t any one thing. I just wanted closure. Showrunner Mike Weiss connected Tiffany’s decision to the intense events at the end of Season 6, saying she was still grappling with their effects. He also said the series had not closed the door on her return. Those comments describe the character’s continuing story, not a different motive for Kane’s departure.

Weiss acknowledged Kane’s absence in an October 15, 2024 TV Insider interview: “Of course it’s going to be a little tough this season to be making FBI without Katherine. She’s such a major talent and she will be deeply missed on set by cast and crew — but myself, the cast, and crew, can’t wait to cheer her on as fans in her future projects.”
