Alice Merton reportedly sued Kanye West over the alleged use of music from her song “Blindside” in “Gun To My Head,” a Vultures 2 bonus track. The available reporting describes accusations, not a court finding that infringement occurred.
What is the lawsuit about?
A March 26, 2025 report by Hip Hop Hero identified the claim as a copyright complaint by singer Alice Merton against West. The report places the dispute in California federal court, but does not provide a case number or a copy of the filing. Its publication date is not a verified filing date. What music is at issue?
According to the report, Merton’s complaint alleges that the melody from her song “Blindside” plays repeatedly in “Gun To My Head,” a Vultures 2 bonus track. Merton reportedly says she and her label declined an initial request to clear the material. The report also says she learned the track had been performed after the alleged use had occurred. Those details are allegations attributed to Merton and the complaint, not findings by a court.
The report quotes Merton as saying West’s “values are contrary to our values.” That statement is reported secondhand rather than established here through a primary transcript or filing. Reported statement from Merton

Has a court decided the claim?
The sources available for this article do not establish whether the court has ruled on the allegations. They also do not verify the case number, service of the complaint, later motions, settlement, dismissal, or final judgment. It would therefore be inaccurate to describe the suit as proven infringement or to state that it remains pending.

The “yet again” framing can blur separate legal matters. A 2024 roundup covered a copyright suit concerning alleged use of “Drink a Yak (Part 2)” in Vultures 1; a separate October 2024 report concerned wage allegations by a former security guard. Neither is the same claim as Merton’s reported complaint. 2024 roundup of a separate copyright suit October 2024 report on wage allegations
