On 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Vanja Grbic said Josko Luketin ended their relationship because he believed she lacked “motherly instincts,” as he had a child. Vanja connected the breakup to a conversation she had raised during his visit to Florida: she was candid about how much her life would have to change to take on a mother role. She believed he had understood and supported her, and thought her concerns may have set him off—but that was her interpretation, not a verified account of Josko’s private reasoning.
What Vanja said Josko told her
In the January 5, 2025 episode, Vanja told her cousin Sanela that the breakup came a few weeks after Josko’s visit. According to Vanja, their morning and evening calls continued after he returned home, but he eventually stopped calling in the evenings. When she asked him about it, he called her “needy” and hung up.
Vanja said she received a text from Josko five days later saying he wanted to talk. She told Sanela that he said he could not be with her because she did not have “motherly instincts,” since he had a child. This is the explanation Vanja reported hearing from him on the show; it does not independently confirm his motives. SoapCentral’s January 6, 2025 recap recounts her account of the episode.
Why the conversation about motherhood mattered
During Josko’s Florida visit, Vanja said she had been honest about how different her life would be and how much she would need to change to make room for motherhood. She recalled feeling that he had heard her, understood her, and supported her.

That perceived understanding helps explain why the split surprised her. Vanja described it as a “complete shock” and said she expected an apology or follow-up call that never came. She also said she believed she would have fallen in love with Josko’s child if she had been given the chance. Vanja wondered whether her concerns about taking on a mother role contributed to the breakup, but the episode account presents that as her interpretation—not as a confirmed explanation from Josko.
What happened after the breakup
A separate recap reported that about two weeks after the breakup, Vanja and Josko spoke over FaceTime. Josko said it was difficult to go from talking all the time to not talking at all. By February 2025, a season roundup described the couple as broken up. Vanja had initially traveled to Croatia hoping to meet Božo before meeting Josko. Reality Tea’s season roundup gives that later status.

A December 2024 article speculated about adoption or visa issues before the televised account of the breakup was available. Those possibilities are not established as the reason they split; Vanja’s later account centered on what she said Josko told her about her suitability for motherhood. ComingSoon’s earlier article noted that the pair had not yet officially addressed the split at that point.

In March 2026, TV Insider reported that Josko was behind Vanja as she explored a connection on 90 Day: The Single Life, and that he confessed to taking an intimate video without her consent. That is a separate later development; it does not establish why he ended his relationship with Vanja. TV Insider’s report covers that update.
