Josh Charles said he called Travis Kelce a “jerk” as a joke because Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs had beaten Charles’s Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game. The anecdote comes from the set of Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” music video; it is not evidence that Charles and Kelce actually fought.
Why Charles said it
Charles described the remark as football-related teasing. In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, he explained that the Chiefs’ win over the Ravens that season was behind his joking jab at Kelce. The surfaced account of the interview attributes the explanation to Charles; AOL’s excerpt quotes him calling Kelce “a real jerk that year” after saying the Chiefs beat the Ravens.
What the story has to do with “Fortnight”
The anecdote concerns the set of Swift’s “Fortnight” music video, in which Charles appeared. The Tonight Show’s official episode description says Charles and Fallon discussed Charles’s VMA win for his role in the video as well as a rumor that he and Kelce fought on set. The available reporting explains the remark as a joke, not as a confirmed confrontation.
Was there a real fight?
The available sources do not substantiate a fight. The Tonight Show description identifies it as a rumor, while the reported explanation from Charles points to playful rivalry over the AFC Championship result. The precise day the scene was filmed and a complete interview transcript are not established in the available accounts.
