She reported that tests found an infection whose cause was still being investigated and “a little fluid” on her lungs. Tests did not find the blood clot she had feared.
What Jessie J said happened
In social-media updates reported by ABC News on August 3, 2025, Jessie J said she returned to the hospital ward where she had recovered from surgery. She described symptoms that raised concern about a possible blood clot in her lung. According to her account, tests ruled out a clot and showed an infection, with its cause still being investigated, as well as “a little fluid” on her lungs.
She also said she was finding it hard to breathe. Jessie J wrote that she had discharged herself from hospital and planned to continue the investigation as an outpatient. Her posts, as reproduced in the coverage, are the basis for these details; no clinician’s assessment of her case was reported.
What is—and is not—known about the complication
Jessie J identified an infection and fluid on her lungs as findings from her tests, but the reports did not name the infection or explain what caused it. They also did not establish that the infection was caused by her surgery. She said the suspected blood clot was not found; reports do not say that she had one.

The Independent’s August 4, 2025 report corroborated the hospitalization and her account. NBC Chicago/TODAY’s August 3, 2025 report also described the infection, lung fluid and negative test for a clot.
How Jessie J described her recovery
Jessie J characterized recovery from surgery as physically difficult and mentally challenging. She said the episode reminded her to slow down, and discussed its effects on parenting her toddler and on career plans. Those remarks describe her own experience, not a general recovery timeline or medical guidance.
