Jenna Bush Hager said she was not wearing her wedding ring because she had broken her ring finger. On the February 26, 2025 episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, she also said she and husband Henry Hager were still happily married. The title’s reference to her engagement ring points to a separate story: she once lost a sapphire from it.
Why wasn’t Jenna Bush Hager wearing a ring?
On February 26, 2025, Bush Hager explained that she had a “bad wedding ring situation” and was not wearing one because she had broken her finger. Us Weekly reported her comments the following day, as did The Independent. The item she was referring to in that episode was her wedding ring, not her engagement ring.
She also addressed speculation prompted by viewers noticing the missing ring: “Don’t worry. I’ve seen some of the comments. Henry and I are still very happily married,” she said, according to Us Weekly.
What happened to her engagement ring?
The engagement-ring detail was a different incident. During the February 2025 conversation, Bush Hager recalled that a sapphire disappeared from her engagement ring after Savannah Guthrie’s 50th birthday celebration. The stone had belonged to Henry Hager’s grandmother, and Bush Hager said she never found it, according to Us Weekly.

She had also spoken about her ring and broken finger in September 2024. While answering a viewer’s question about whether to be honest with a fiancé who proposes with a family heirloom, she said her engagement ring had belonged to one of Henry’s relatives and that he had it redone. She then mentioned she was not wearing her ring because she had broken her finger, as reported by CafeMom.
What is known about the finger injury?
Bush Hager had disclosed the broken ring finger in August 2024. The cited coverage says she connected the injury to a string of mishaps after losing her “lucky necklace” in the ocean. Henry thought she had sprained the finger; she said it had turned blue. Her later explanation in February 2025 was consistent with that earlier account.

Does the missing ring mean they separated?
No. A missing ring is not evidence of a separation, and Bush Hager directly said she and Henry were still happily married in her February 26, 2025 remarks. The reports establish what she said then; they do not establish whether she resumed wearing a ring afterward or her ring-wearing status today.
