Why does Sauron have a different actor in the season 2 premiere?

Was Charlie Vickers replaced as Sauron?
No. Charlie Vickers remains the actor playing Sauron in the later season 2 story. Amazon’s character overview identifies Halbrand, played by Vickers, as Sauron’s season 1 disguise, and explains that Sauron adopts the Annatar persona in season 2 to manipulate the elves into making rings. What does the Annatar disguise mean for the story?
Annatar is not a new character taking Sauron’s place. It is a persona he uses to influence the elves and further his plan involving the rings. The shift from the premiere’s earlier form to Halbrand and then Annatar reflects the series’ portrayal of Sauron changing identities as his story advances.
