At a concert at Warsaw in Brooklyn on October 12, 2024, Finneas kissed guitarist and fellow recording artist Ricky Gourmet. Some social-media users called the moment “queerbaiting”; others pushed back. That label was an accusation by commenters, not an established account of Finneas’s intent or identity.
What happened at the Brooklyn show?
Finneas performed at Warsaw, a venue in Brooklyn, New York, on October 12, 2024. Reports say he kissed Gourmet during the performance. PinkNews and UNILAD identify the song as “Till Forever Falls Apart,” though PerthNow names a different song, so the song attribution is not consistent across coverage. Uproxx, PinkNews, UNILAD and PerthNow covered the incident in October 2024.
PinkNews says Gourmet is also known as “Rat.” UNILAD described Warsaw as having a capacity of 1,000; that is the venue’s stated capacity in its report, not the concert’s attendance.
Why did some people call it queerbaiting?
After video of the kiss circulated online, some users accused Finneas of queerbaiting, while other commenters defended or dismissed the charge. The coverage documents a social-media dispute, not a settled finding about why he kissed Gourmet. A public gesture between two men does not, by itself, establish either person’s sexuality or prove a performer is deliberately courting queer audiences through misleading signals.

The reports reviewed do not provide an incident-specific explanation from Finneas. UNILAD said it contacted him for further comment, but reported no reply about the kiss. The online reaction therefore cannot be treated as evidence of his private intent.
Why was Billie Eilish brought into the discussion?
Commenters and headlines compared the accusations with earlier online criticism of Finneas’s sister, Billie Eilish. UNILAD connects that comparison to Finneas defending Eilish after criticism related to her “Guess” feature, and also mentions earlier criticism of her “Lost Cause” video. Those controversies concerned different circumstances; the comparison does not establish that the situations or the people’s intentions were equivalent.

UNILAD quoted Finneas responding to a commenter who accused Eilish of queerbaiting: “What a take you little clown. I got to watch the entire internet slam my sister for queer-baiting for an entire year when in reality, you were all forcing her to label and out herself.” That was a response about his sister and the earlier debate, not a statement about his own onstage kiss. PinkNews also reproduced a 2020 post attributed to Finneas saying, “Oh absolutely. Sexuality and sexual orientation is a spectrum”; that earlier remark likewise does not explain the 2024 moment.

- Established in the reporting: Finneas kissed Gourmet at the October 12, 2024 Warsaw show in Brooklyn, and social-media users disagreed over how to interpret it.
- Not established: Finneas’s reason for the kiss, his sexuality, or whether he intended to signal anything to audiences.
- Not a measure of public opinion: a circulating clip’s views or a selection of social posts cannot show what the broader public believes. PerthNow reported a view count as of its October 14, 2024 article, a dated snapshot rather than a current total or an independent measure of opinion.
The most accurate description is that Finneas faced online queerbaiting accusations after kissing his guitarist at a Brooklyn concert. The available coverage does not establish the accusation as fact.
