After watching, Roberts spoke with Stewart about what the experience had meant to him. He recalled feeling surrounded by “legends” and described the memory as special and prideful. His emotion came from revisiting that personal career milestone—not from a new nomination or from watching the ceremony itself.
Which Oscar nomination was Roberts remembering?
The Academy’s official record of the 1986 ceremony lists Eric Roberts as a nominee for Actor in a Supporting Role for Runaway Train. The Academy Awards Database also records Roberts, the film, the 1986 (59th) ceremony and the supporting-role category.
