Dua Lipa called joining Chris Stapleton at the 59th Academy of Country Music Awards a “big dream” because she was a longtime fan who loved country music’s storytelling and passion. The two performed Stapleton’s “Think I’m in Love With You” in a surprise duet on May 16, 2024, in Frisco, Texas.
What did Dua Lipa and Chris Stapleton perform?
Lipa unexpectedly joined Stapleton during his set at the 59th ACM Awards for “Think I’m in Love With You,” a song associated with Stapleton’s 2023 album Higher. Entertainment Tonight’s backstage report covered the performance and the artists’ comments afterward; Yahoo Entertainment’s report also connected the song with Higher. The live ACM duet should be distinguished from the original song: these reports do not establish that the duet itself appeared on the album.
The ceremony took place in Frisco, Texas, on May 16, 2024. Entertainment Tonight reported that it streamed live on Prime Video at the time; that historical broadcast detail does not confirm whether a replay is currently available.
Why did Lipa call the duet a “big dream”?
Speaking backstage after the performance, Lipa said, “It was a big dream of mine to work with Chris.” She described herself as a devoted Stapleton fan and explained what drew her to country music:

How did the surprise collaboration come together?
Stapleton said the idea originated with Lipa. He recalled being told that she wanted to perform together, then speaking with her and working on the number:
“It was her idea, as far as I know. They kind of called us up and said, ‘Hey, she would like to do this.’ I was like, ‘Are you sure?’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah!’ So we got on the phone and talked about it and worked on it a little bit.”
